Hello mylotters.
I have a problem with losing weight. I don't gain weight that fast and neither do I lose weight fast. It's always been steady and occasionally shifts to a higher number then the next to a lower number.
I don't rely on weight to think I have beautiful body. I just want toned muscles and less flab. I want to enjoy a healthy lifestyle of exercise and good food! I want to be pretty and fashionable.
However my environment makes it difficult for me to accomplish such things. My family is full of lazy people who detest exercise. They have a high fat diet and want it to stay that way. They get annoyed when I rant about having a healthy lifestyle and wanting them to join in too.
I'm the only one in my family who cares about this. Now my mother and father are not in good body condition. My mom seems to be at her menopausal stage and has problems with her blood pressure. My father also is a hypertensive and is experiencing gouty arthritis on his foot. I don't want that to happen to me so early in my life.
I especially detest drugs. I know they help you feel better but I want to avoid such things as much as possible. They are freakin- expensive and they don't cure you entirely, what a waste! And to think a nurse like me thinks that way. I hate sickness so I want to live healthy and happily.
This new year, I want to be a sexy chick. One hard to resist. With a great body, great personality and great fashion sense! I won't settle for anything less.
All I need are resources, supporters and enough determination and focus to do so.
Help me my friends!!!

If your family doesn't care about their health then you can start it yourself.
Exercise is the best way to maintain a good health and achieve a lean body.
I always give myself at least 1 or 2 times exercise in a week.
I jog for hours- usually 2 hours once a week or maybe twice.
I do cardio exercise at home almost every night before going to sleep.
I am not sexy, but at least I know I am healthy :)

Aja, you can do Yoga or stretching every morning. You can use your Hula hoop for your daily routine.

When I experience muscle pains or fatigue I do yoga. But I lost my yoga cd So I can only do the positions that I remember from that video.
Thank you for the response.

That is good exercise routine. I could not handle jogging alone. haha, I do zumba, hula hoop, hip hop and we have a treadmill at home that the whole family is too lazy to use.

Hi Aja!
Your desires are understandable and you have high goals. Everyone wants to look smart and healthy, like you.
It is said - "Where there is a will, there is a way".
If you are determined to look smarter, healthier and s*xier then you would find the ways and means to succeed.
Without bothering about your family member's diet you should start taking healthy diet and should cut on fat and oily food. If possible you should also reduce the intake of sugar and products containing sugar.
You could take small meals after every 3-4 hours.
If you can not join a gym or can not go for regular body exercise, you have the option of going for morning and/or evening walk. You could even bye a bicycle for exercise (either the regular one or the one meant for exercise only).
All the best.

Thank you!
Those are good tips. -sigh- I can't help but blame my environment that make this goal of mine more difficult to achieve. But I will do my best and stop making excuses.

I think from what you have written you are well on the way to being a sexy chick. You sound lovely and what a good outlook on life you have.Could you buy your own food and sort yourself out.You cannot change the habits your other family members have.Don't worry what the others are doing, you go jogging or walking.I had a bit of weight problems and often go walking with my friends.I watch what I eat and I have lost 7lb in a couple of weeks. It is my stomach that is my problem.I am menopausal as well and boy does it knock you side ways. This might be the time to get your mum to eat fruit it will make her feel better ,take her for a walk.Work on your mum gently and firmly. She will benefit and you will have an excersise buddy as well.If she is not interested strike out on your own and do it.

Thank you!
That's good advise. I should try it out. Now all I have to do is find a job so I get some money to buy food I want.
Congrats on losing those pounds! I'm sure it wasn't easy but it's a great accomplishment!
I'm 105 pounds now and 5 foot tall. I'm still not content with my body form. I need to work harder. And I need to look after my parents somehow without really interfering.

Walk as much as you can , but at least 2 kms a day. Do all house hold chores when ever you get time. Be less dependent on servents. Wash your own clothes with your hands. Make less use of cars or bikes to go to market places. Eat healthy food and natural ones. Have as much water as you can in a day.

Hi,
Alternate day fasting.
Day 1 eat nothing but drink what you like
Day 2 eat whatever you like and as much as you like
Day 3 like day 1
Day 4,5,6,7 like day 2
After a couple of weeks fast on more days
This regime will help you loose weight in healthy way and by decreasing the level of ILGF will reduce the change of you contracting cancer and heart disease and other health problems including hypertension
all the best, urban

Not only is it healthy but more healthy than eating every day. Fasting, lowers the level of ILGF (Insulin like growth factor) and lowering this, tells the body to go into repair mode, healing minor problems that may lead in time to disease. There is evidence it reduces hypertension, chances of cardiovascular disease and the onset of Altzhiemers. Personally, I have lost 9 kg in about 4 months, whilst still enjoying food (Though I did not fast for the purpose of loosing weight)
I should also say it is important to exercise but enjoy it, walk in the woods, cycle or swim, not all that nonsense in the gym
all the best, urban

That's the first time I have heard of such a way to diet.
I'm sure it will be effective. But is it healthy? It seems like it is unhealthy and it can mess up one's digestion. maybe even cause digestive problems in the long run.
But thank you for the response.

Wow, this method worked on you. I don't know if it will work on me.
Thank you for letting me know of this method. Maybe I will try it?

I wonder if you can live in your house with your family and do your dieting alone. I don`t think that you should ask the rest of your family to change their eating habits, but maybe you could eat in a different way yourself. As for weight, part of it is eating less and healthier and another part is doing some exercise.

My parents are in charge of the groceries. Usually our food is rich and some meat. Little veggies but many soup. My father and sister don't care about losing wait when in fact they should both be concerned because they are over weight and on their way to obesity.
Thank you for the response margu!
I did try eating healthy on my own but my mom is the cook and I don't cook. so they decide the food. For now I'm just eating less carbohydrates and more meat/protein.

Actually we don`t need a lot of proteins, but we must have some every day. But eat more vegetables and fruit if you can.

I would if there were a lot of fruits and veggies on every meal. Protein is good for muscle building. My aim is to tone my body.

Sexy chick! That is great. I have recently started feeling that I want to be that way too. I hope that you are able to reach your goal. Keep the ideas and goals you have at the front part of your mind. Perhaps hang out a pic of a smaller you, or of an outfit you would like to fit in. I have added a new dress to one of my wishlist for when I lose weight.
I hope that you are making progress. Keep thinking about all the benefits of eating healthy and getting into shape. It takes time but don't give up. There are also support weight loss groups that are free perhaps you can join one of those.

Hahaha, good luck.
I'm sure many women will flock to you if you achieve that. But remember, a good personality and a wise mind is better than just being a huge chunk of sexy meat. hahahaha!

Hi Aja:)
It's really hard to be motivated when no one supports you. Well just go on with it maybe if they see you're successful then they might follow.
So you have a new year resolution now, that's good and it's best if you can achieve it next year.

It was the same resolution I have two years ago and I still didn't achieve the body I wanted. I am very lazy and lowly motivated, that's why I'm looking for support elsewhere because i don't get it from my family.
I am not content with my body now, I know it can be much better. I want to look my best in my prime years.
Thank you love green!

Toning a body requires a lot of discipline and is very hard to acquire if you love to eat. But looks like you can do it even if the whole family loves unhealthy food. It is good that you're encouraging them what to do even if you know the answer that you'll get. You'll just need to resist the temptations that are surrounding you right now especially the couch and bed. It will be better if you just enroll in a gym to get that toned body that you want to achieve.

I did think of that.
But the gym is expensive. Though it will help me progress fast, I'm also thinking about how it will affect my body in the long run. There's no way I can keep going to the gym my whole life.
I know people who stop going to the gym become even bigger than they were originally and their body becomes hideous once they stop going to the gym, abandoning exercise and diet.
I can not risk that because I know myself. I can't promise that I won't stop being healthy. So I can only do some fat burning and some muscle building but they don't have to be intense.
