Crying is one of the best bodily functions we have available to us to help reduce stress, but when people see us cry, they want to hold us and comfort us, which is fine, but sometimes they want to stop us. Have you heard the saying "have a good cry?" I have, and I certainly make use of crying often. Sometimes stress gets so built up that the only thing that makes it better is a good cry. The one thing about crying though is that it is exhausting, it brings on headaches, and makes our eyes red and swollen, it is truly physically hard on the body, but I wouldn't trade a good cry as a stress reliever for anything else. What other advantages can you gain from having a good cry?

You are right headaches problem is start if the person cry more. Crying is good to remove the dust from the eyes but if it is excess means other problem starts.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i am surprised to know that someone can use crying as means to stay healthy. I have always perceived crying negatively.
In my opinion, i cry when i get emotional or when something touches my heart so much that i am bound to shed my tears. I feel as if i have taken off the emotions and feelings inside my heart by shedding my tears and later on i feel a bit relaxed. When something touches my heart then i also cry as those tears come out automatically.
What say?

Me too, and I don't only cry because of stressful situations either. There are times I cry when I'm happy, when someone has touched my heart, when I see beautiful things in life. Crying is one emotion where we can cry when we are, happy, sad, disappointed, and angry. Crying is pretty versatile, and has great benefits for us. I read though some people have a hard time benefiting from a good cry.

It is very normal to cry when you are really feeling sad and disheartened. But when you cry most of the time and really get depressed, it would be an issue of course. It's fine to cry to release the stress inside your body. You could find your comfort stress relieving options for you to shift emotion from happy to sad.

I do agree with you. I also experienced having a good cry. That was when I was so stressed and burned out way back Christmas break and because of my parents also but I didn't have the chance to let it go, until someone important to me forgot my birthday, I really burst into tears, just like I cried to my heart's content. Though it's a negative feeling but somehow I feel very light and relaxed after crying that it lulled me back to sleep. It was indeed a stress reliever and a release from encapsulation.

i've experienced for holding the cry in front of any people and any humans as much as i can do (though in several times i cried in front of my mother because of something so painful) but so many times i've been holding it all alone, crying when i'm alone but it was forced so i could relieve a lil stress, but still it doesn't do any good for myself until now. crying all alone might relieves our stress but, better have shoulder to cry on. it'll make us even healthier. :)
