An Impromptu Act

As I was walking home from class, there were 3 or 4 young fellas and 1 girl (all college age)on the sidewalk a little distance from me. The tallest guy of the bunch was shaking hands and giving everyone a shoulder hug. As I walked up to them, I looked at the one who was shaking hands and giving hugs and stuck out my hand and said, "Hey, how about a handshake and a hug?" So we shook hands and did the shoulder hug. Everyone had a good-hearted laugh about that. As I walked away, I had a smile on my face and felt pretty good. I'm smiling about it even now.
Has anyone else done something impromptu like this?

How lovely! Your post had me smiling to, as if I had been there and experienced the situation. I most likely would have done the same as you.

Cool! Once in a blue moon I'll do something like this. It just really makes my day sometimes.

I have never done something like that coz I fear that I might be thought of as either a criminal or just plain crazy. It is hard to just pop into a conversation of people whom you do not know. You may never know how they'd react to what you're going to do.

I knew I wouldn't have a problem because I knew they are students at the college I'm attending. Where I was walking is right across the street from the campus.
