It is very helpful to have a personal computer in the house just like in my situation where I have kids who are studying, they can use it whenever they have school assignments like research without having hassles of going to computer shops just do to it there and spend more money. Just this afternoon it comes to my mind to buy a new one and let them use this stuff for each and everyone's comfort, I think it is a good idea and my kids will be happy also. What do you think pal?

When my husband and I had enough money to buy ourselves a lap top each, I let my youngest son, who was still in high school borrow my lap top for his Junior and Senior years. He really needed to be able to have a computer and the internet, in his room for his homework assignments. Sometimes, he needed to be able to take his lap top to school. I never regretted my decision to let him borrow my lap top. He took good care of it. Now, I miss him as he has graduated and moved out. He now has his own lap top. Now, kids need to be able to have access to the internet for their homework assignments. It is a necessary part of their studies and lifestyles. Such is the techy world we live in now.

Of course, i agree.. Computer has its benefits and risks. As parent, i will protect my child from any bad risk as well as. In this era, we need internet too to support our child. It will add more risks and benefits definitely. So, i will try to control what they are accessing on their room, with some software of course. This is the challenge, we should try to be one next step from our child. It can be done with learning only. Nice to share..

Hi Lightning and welcome to my lot. If you can afford to buy another computer I think it would be a good ideal. Your children might even teach you something you didn't know. Children now days are so smart. Good for you to realize how much it would make your children happy to have their own computer. I say if you can go for it and enjoy. Good luck my friend!

Hi,
I still think of those who can't afford one, making ends meet makes the purchase of a PC prohibitive in spite of the "dropping prices." It may make good research tool but those who still has no access to the PC are the one left behind in this "digital divide" we are in. You are one of the fortunate ones who has acquired a home-based system.
