How does fiverr work? I would like to try it and make a couple extra dollars on the internet. How do you get people to do your gigs instead of others? What can I do to get more gigs?

I think Fiverr is over-saturated now with offers that are so ridiculous that you cannot compete with them. You have to do so much more than others in order to get noticed for your gig.
If you offer to write a 400 word article for $5, there will be another person who's willing to write two 400 word articles for the same price and then there will be another person who's willing to write a 1000 word article for the same price. How to compete with that?
Are you willing to devalue your work just to get people to buy from you? You need to value your time and effort. It's better to go to bidding sites like Freelancer.com or odesk.

When it first started out it was great. I was there when it happened made good cash then. My clients took advantage of me, I was doing transcription work 15 minutes for $5.00. They are supposed to get your approval first or your agreement that you would do the work for them. They just started uploading work that was unapproved by me and expected me to get the work done. I was so overwhelmned with too much work. Did not get the work completed in time then they wanted to give me a bad rating. I did make some cash. I hired my daughter to help me out.
I was the only person there at that time to do transcription work, then others started working and 30 minutes for $5 my clients dropped off and I dropped off too.
there are some ridiculous things on there people say they would do for $5. I did get paid via PayPal.
