There is a significant difference between having stature and having status. Different people would view these two words differently. Besides the dictionary meanings, the most important part is what have these two words played in your personal life.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i have always been confused regarding these two words but still i will try my level best to explain the two words according to my knowledge. Stature is a higher term than status as when someone reaches a stature then he becomes a public figure and is one to be considered as an idol for many but status is somewhat related to having name fame and power but no necessarily being a public figure. This is how i have interpreted the two words my way without referring a dictionary. What say?

Yes, your interpretation sounds logical. Different individuals will coin these two phrases accordingly. I do think that stature is more important in life than status. One can buy status with money but not stature. You got to earn that one.
