Today was definitely a good day for me. Ever since Wal Mart has cut my hours have been putting out applications and applying for different places and just putting out resume's. Which pretty much has gone to no avail. Until finally Target called me one day for a phone interview. I think I was pretty much prepared for it with all my answers to their interview questions. Well anyway, I did a good job, because then they had called me for a second interview. It was a long day for me. First the guy was late into coming to give me my interview and the associates told me that I could wait in the break room and they would let him know I was in there. So I was waiting in the break room and the guy never knew I was there, I was like really. So the associates forgot to tell him, that I was back there. Anyway I went through the interview, it was a really good interview and we had a couple of jokes throughout the interview. In the end he said that he thought I had a good interview and he'd like to offer me the position. So now, I'm hired on, I just got to take my drug test and a back ground check. Which I know that both I will pass and then they will call me for orientation. I love the position, it is called a price accuracy associate. Basically what I'll be doing is going throughout the store and items that will be going on clearance and items that go on sale I will be going throughout the store and making those price changes. Also, I will be checking on items that come into the store and making sure that the correct shipment has come through and everything and if not, see what items are not right and see what needs to be done or send them back or whatever. Then also I will be acting as a backup cashier. I think that I will really like this position it sounds really easy the only thing is you have to be really quick. But I know that I can do it. Plus I love the hours that I have which will pretty much be set. From 6 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon, Monday through Friday weekends off and sometimes I'll be working on Sundays. So I love it. Still get to spend time with the hubby and also have fun and go out and stuff like that. I love the position. So now, I have to put my two week notice in at Wal Mart and now I am a new associate at Target yippee. Wal Mart's biggest competition. Oh well, They will be paying me a little bit more is a perk I like and plus I am hired on full time. I like that.

I learned that they were cutting hours because they don't want to pay insurance if they don't have to. And so they are taking the hours away from the part time people and giving it to the full time people, they have to make sure that full time people get their 40 hours. I don't understand why they would cut around this time either, its Christmas time and they need more help then ever.

You are right it is so hard to find a job. I just say just never give up on looking for another job. Eventually the right one will hire you. So never stop trying. I think I will be working there long term until I figure out what I decide about my career and work towards that and go to school.

That is the good spirit we must not lose hope on anything and feel confident all the time. If we feel negatively about it then we can never be successful on finding one. wishing you luck on your job and be happy on your work :)

I am happy about it definitely. I feel still bad for co-workers who are still getting hurt by wal mart. Now I hear that the associates who are full time will be getting hours cut too. I feel so bad for them. Because they are supposed to be getting 40 hours and now they want to cut their hours to 32. I can imagine how many angry associates will be at work today. But I don't have to worry about it, I'll be gone in a matter of 2 weeks. I know that I will be sticking to this job most definitely.

Wow! Congratulations on getting selected. Good to see things working out for you. It is always good to have some jokes around during interviews. It helps ease the nerves as well as build a rapport with the interviewer as you go along. Cheers! Ram

Yeah I agree, he made it so comfortable for me in the interview. But he also mentioned that I seemed a bit nervous (I always am in interviews) so that might have been the reason he made all the jokes he made.

Also, Target is a little more classy than Walmart. Walmart is great for bargains. But Target is a nice place to shop, so it probably is a nice place to work. I appreciate the bargains at Walmart but Target is just a calmer and quieter place to shop. Glad to hear you are happy where you got hired and they pay more. I hope it continues to work well for you. That is great.

I've noticed that everytime I walk into target I'm like wow, its so nice and so clean and quiet, but I wonder how it is on the weekend. I've even asked some of the associates how they like working there, and they all seem to love it. They say the management is nice there and its just a great place to work. The people there don't look tired when I go in or stressed out like at Wal Mart, at the store I'm going to be working at they all just look so happy there. I've even heard, from an associate from wal mart that I work with, she has a family member that works for Wal Mart and they said the management at Target are way more friendlier and helpful at Target then at Wal Mart. I don't know the management I've worked with at Wal Mart most of them just seemed like they shouldn't even be management. But either way, I'm glad I'll be leaving soon. But you're right I think Target is more classier then Wal Mart.

Congratulation and the new position you get sound interesting and fun . I also like the time frame , you will get to reach home early . We have to send a lot of resume to get one job , that is the harsh reality of things now .

It is so true, you just have to keep searching and putting out resume's and stuff. I'm glad my hubby told me to apply here, cause I wasn't going to, but now I'm glad I did. When they told me the position too, I thought that it was interesting, because I never heard of a job title like that. Then after they described it to me, I'm like that sounds fun and I know I'll enjoy it. I'm glad about the schedule too, cause not only will I have more time with my husband but I can spend more time on mylot as well.

It does sound interesting and I can't wait to actually get into working it. I know I think it'll be fun to have weekends off. Although my hubby won't have off with me, but I'll still be able to come home and spend time with him. With my schedule, so I'm happy with the schedule.
