I just want a print job done and my printer is acting like a complete nuisance. I tried everything. I refilled the ink, I check the connection to power and my computer. But I every time I initiate a print job, it goes into an error and won’t print the damned document. I will admit it in hitting it with my foot because I am so frustrated. It is quite old by many standards but I am sticking with it because it is very easy and simple to use (which doesn’t include this print job). How do I get around this? I really need something printed to do my job. Any idea what causing this because I really in the mood for totally smashing it? It’s canon pixma 1000 –something.

I've been in your situation before. It really get me on the nerve. When the time I really need it the most and at this urgent time, it just went into a mess. Mine also a Canon brand. It could be the Canon brand for the printer is going down to the drain.

Have the same feeling every time I deal with my printer. I put up with it since I don’t use in a daily basis. Hopefully, it would still be doing a job when I need it again but I might get another printer just in case.
I don’t know whether I could trust Canon anymore. There is the brother brand but have to read up on it. People are dissuading me when it comes to HP. I like their style but yet to read on their performance. I tend go with Canon since it is an established brand but nowadays, that is not even a good reason to stick to one.

maybe it has a software problem, you should reinstall print drivers from cd.

As mentioned, not a software program. I’m betting there is a machine part that gives me this headache and some back tensing.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software? I had a Canon printer that I really liked, but I had to reinstall the software now and then to keep it working right. I don't know why but that worked.
That printer was simple and fast. I was disgusted when I had to buy another computer and the printer wouldn't install to it because it was too old.

Also no problem with the software. The driver software was still good and the troubleshooting program also didn’t have the capacity to handle the problem. I guess the printer is just that - broke. I really love that printer because they require less fuss. I just want a printer copy and I don’t like complicated machines. I already get impatient and frustrated with simple printers and there’s no way I’ll be more patient with a complicated one. I guess I’ll still buy the same model (or at least simple looking and easy to manipulate machines) since I am used to it, even if I have to make a special order. Or maybe my mom will give her printer as a present.

is it possible the printer program is not working with the newer versions of you computer? Search on the internet for the info you look for (type the kind of printer etc and see what you find, might be you can easily upload a new printer steering program). If the printer did work before and you are able to print a pdf file for example, make up your file, change it into pdf and print that.
These programs you can get for free (on the internet Adobe reader) but are also build in in free programs like: open office (you find them also at download.com).

There is no problem is not in the program. It seems like it is a machine problem. I was able to print before and I didn’t use for a time. I don’t really have massive printing needs but it is a convenience to have a printer ready and not go and pay in shops for print job. But I did exactly that because I am already frustrated and my patience is growing thin.

Hi jeanne!
There are times when our things starts to malfunction specially if need something to be done immediately. What I do with this is I would turn off everything and let it have its rest for a while. Then I would open it again. Sometimes, this strategy works but if after doing this thing and no result, then I think it's about time to ask the help of a technician. My printer is hp deskjet and I love this printer because it never leave us during the time that we need it badly because we have to finish our terminal reports which was a requirement in our training some months ago.
Have a nice day!

I think I would like to have someone see it but I guess the technician will advise me to just buy another one (or a new model) rather than to fix the thing. I see the justification in that seeing that some parts might be costly for repair or I’ll have to wait to a replacement part. I’ll have to see to it when I’m done with my task. I might be more logical and less angry by that time.
