A girl in India died after consuming an expired pack of noodles , while her family members fell seriously ill. The pack of noodles had expired in 2007, and still it was on sale in the shop. It was the total negligence of Shop owner and the consumer. It is the duty of the consumer to check the product before he purchases. Whether it may be a product for eating, or Medicines, Or any cosmetic products, PLEASE check their expiry date... And if you find any expired medicine with the chemist, immediately report it to the nearest police station, as expiry of medicines is a very very serious issue...
Thank You!

I hope the shop that sold her the noodles is accountable for their actions! That is totally disgraceful. I have been in shops where the date is out, but usually the staff are quick to check and will reduce stuff which has only a day or two shelf life. You may see things that have been missed, human error, but they are only a day or two out, certainly not 5 years!

You are right....the buyer should have read the expiration date and brought it to the shop owners attention. I wouldn't shop in that store again after that!

The shop owners should be checking their products regularly to ensure they do not sell expired products. A lot of cases of food poisoning do come up time and again. We too should be more careful because I think most of us do not check expiry dates on products.

Thanks for the warning my friend.
Indeed before buying a food product always check the expiry date. Or better yet buy it in a supermarket where you know that the turn over of products is fast because there really are lots of buyers. But still, it's always safe that we check the expiry date.

ohh that's really sad but the family would have checked it before cooking or else they did it purposefully with out throwing the expired noodles as they thought nothing serious may happen. But the result was extremely sad. The small girl's body was sensitive so it could take it and the reaction was serious.

That's awful. You are right. we must always check the products we will buy. The unresponsibility seller always does not want loose money they sold expired product because they already spent money to it. Government should be more aware and set the tight regulation about it.

Seriously true, luckily the girl did not went to the hospital. We always heard of expired noodles but we don't care and buy it, even in my place we have a noodles brand that uses cosmetic powder which lately been sued by consumer. So, no and please don't buy it, see it and report to the police.

Expiration dates are placed so that this does not happen. But of course there should be some checking at random from sanitary authorities. Still, I find weird that some noodles had been on a shop for 5 years without being sold. Shop owners worry about how much they buy so their money is not stuck for 5 years. Has anyone checked if these noodles were just bought or were at someone`s pantry?

I would think the store should be held responsible for that one.. Have they contacted the police on this? Have a great day there.

Indeed... it is really important to check the expiration of every product that we are going to buy and consume. Even the negligence is something to point to the store owners still it is our own smart ways to check every products than be sorry. This is a good discussion. Thanks for sharing this!
