Previously I asked about your national icons but now I want to know which figures you personally have found inspiring. Here in UK I could cite, William Wilberforce, who bought about the abolition of slavery amongst others all the best, urban

In China, i admire Mao Zedong. He is great leader and he made China forward. Without him, no China's present day. he is couragous and I admire him. Althout he has passed away for a long time, his spirit is still exsisted. have a nice day.

In Bangladesh, we got a great leader, novel Laureate Dr. Mohammad Yunus. He is a great Economist and the inventor of Micro Loan system to reduce poverty. His personality and simplicity and attitude I like most.

Betty, Sun Yat Sen was just as progressive and less bloody with it. He just didn't retain power long enough to do much.

He certainly deserves a place, but with him I would put his tireless co-campaigner Thomas Clarkson, who made up in zeal what he lacked in influence. Have you thought of joining Christian Anti-Slavery Today (http://www.cast.eu.com)? I'm not a member myself, but in my church is a very active member, who has brought the issues to our attention. For me, it's a different William, William Tyndale and, among the women, Anne Askew.

Our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal is one amazing person not only in my opinion but as of many local and foreign historians as well. I used to think it was all exaggeration, the things I read and heard about him when I was in elementary and high school, but during college, it is required that we take up a subject dedicated to knowing almost everything about his life for one semester, so I got to know more about him and truly he was amazing and really inspiring in many ways. I sometimes wish I could have even just half his talents and skills.

Yes, now there was a great man! What particular qualities do you find most inspiring? I think your Lord Salisbury had a very strong character & did a great deal regarding reform of the entire prison system. I'm going with General Monash on this occassion. Quite the quiet achiever! He's credited with much more down here than Wiki will admit. There was a huge playground I used to visit occassionally in my childhood which bears his name, near a town along the river that also bears his name. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Monash

I can give a few examples- Martin Luther King, motivational speaker Eric Thomas, Lupe Fiasco and Lecrae. I can't really think of many from the US off the top of my head (having mind block for some reason), but any people who have had to overcome tough odds and helped better society are inspiring- like Rosa Parks. Wow, I just thought of the person from my country who inspires me the most and can't believe I forgot about him- Michael Jordan.
