I Think there is a difference between men and women smoking. If men can smoke anywhere, women shouldn't do it's not good to look at women smoking anywhere especially pregnant women, since smoking can adversely affect their unborn babies. Adults may have the right to injure their own health, but not to damage their unwitting offspring. The same goes for drinking and taking drugs as well.

Men may view smoking as an enhancement to their masculine image but to women I can't figure out a possible one. All the same I can't appreciate any good in smoking by either men or women as this does not only harm their own health but more on the non smoking ones who inhale the smoke they create.

I don`t see why there has to be a double standard for men and women in anything. I do agree that it is better if noone, whatever their genre avoid smoking near children or prgnant women. As to what is good or bad to look at, it depends on the cultue.

Some people say that smoking men are cool and smoking women are elegant. I don't think so. I am not a smoker and actually I hate the smoking smell. It is harmful for the health. It is even worse for a woman to smoke. As you say, the smoking can be quite harmful for the unborn baby. For the sake of the baby, the mother should stop smoking when she is pregnant.
