Thanks to the complaints and nonsense about the way she handled the Libya attacks back in September from the GOP she has decided that it would be in the best interest of the country if she withdraws from consideration.

Honestly I don't think she willingly or knowingly tried to mislead the American people about. The event. I honestly think she was acting on the only information she had and that she is not to blame for being given wrong information. I don't know if she was the best choice for Secretary of State or not, but if she wasn't it should not have been because of something like this.
Is it just another attempt to blo ck the President? Or were the complaints by the GOP founded?
With her out of the running some think John Kerry a good choice.

Was this something that Rice should have dropped out for? Thoughts? Also, any thoughts on who would be the best candidate for the job?

Mehale,
America was lied to from the beginning on the attacks in Lybia. Whether Ms Rice was part of that lie is not the biggest issue here. The biggest issue here is that America was lied to. The last time America was lied to by a sitting president the president resigned to avoid an impeachment. His name was Richard Nixon. No one lost their life in this scandal but it was perceived that the president lost his credibility when the lie was told. My question to you is, why are we not calling for the resignation of Barak Obama? His lack of action cost several lives and the blatant lie afterwards only exacerbated the situation.

Good point, and yes America being lied to is a big issue....and while I am by no means trying to defend Obama, I do find myself wondering where the false information actually originated from, and whether Obama's own intelligence might have lied to him and the administration. If that is the case, then it would be hard to put the blame on him for being lied to as well and unknowingly giving false information to the public.
On the other hand....no one is likely to ask him to step down. He has too many supporters and they are way to vocal for that to happen. Where is the fairness in placing blame, though, when no one knows for sure where the false information actually came from?

Sorry Mehale,
But I just don't buy it. He knew about it being a terrorist attack within 2 hours of its beginning as the following article states;
http://www.mrc.org/node/41631
But he CHOSE to cover it with a lie and a lame one at that!

Thank you for the link! I had not seen this before and therefore had some rather obvious ( at least now ) misconceptions about it. This definitely puts a new light on the subject and makes me understand why the GOP were so against Rice. Hopefully this will come out and Obama will have to take responsibility for his actions, but I doubt it. He has been the media darling since he first ran for the nomination...so why, unfortunately, should that change now.
Now at least I understand the situation better. Thank you for that, and again for the link to the article.

Politics 101--never trust any mainstream media source as far as you can throw them--especially MSNBC or CNN. They tend to be more than a little loose with facts, or lack thereof. I fact check everyone, and cross check everything I can find. If you haven't checked out the Pew reports on media bias, you might want to do so--

These people have a lot of information. I find if you take the news as reported by the right, then the left, then fact check, you usually manage to get most of the information. Pew Research is a good group.
Also, I forgot to put a link in one of my replies to another of your discussions--
www.dailyjobcuts.com
says something about the true state of the economy. I believe they also have a way for individuals to post local businesses in their area that are closing, or laying off. Interesting stuff abounds.
