Two years ago, as a result of a heart attack, I had an ECG - it was actually the only test I had that confirmed that I was having a heart attack.
Electrodes were placed on my chest around the heart and I had to remain very still (very difficult when you are having so much pain). This measured the electrical activity of the heart and indicated that my heart was struggling in its attempt to remove the clot that was blocking it.
It doesn't hurt and it saved my life. :-)

it has something to do with the electrical impulses in our heart. The fist node to fire is the sa node which is reponsible for the p wave. P wave is also called atrial depolarization wherein the atria contracts. Then the qrs wave which is also know for ventricular depolarization. and finally, t wave, which is the resting state known as ventricular repolarization...There are many types of ecg the normal one is the normal sinus rhythm and the 3 fatals arrhythmia are the pvc's, v tach, and v fib.
