I notice most of the people who are business man they eats the meals late night till 11pm or 12pm. Some time they watch the TV after coming in home and after some time they ready for taking the dinner. I think this is not good habit and next day loose motion problem may also creates because no proper digestion eating and instantly sleeping. What you think every person should change the habit because we are earning only for eating or body.

I agree. My Physiology professor said that the best time for dinner should be between 6 to 7 pm. Beyond that is not good. Upon sleeping, the digestive system is the only one working because we are resting. We should not give too much work for our digestive system during the night.

Beti Thanks for this discussion, yes i agree we should eat our night meal at a fixed time say 10pm, but if you have to attend a feast/party it is usually late, so in that case eat less, if not keep running to toilet next morning if for any reason i over eat, i take some herbal digestive like Laban bhaskar.

Fanta, when my parents were still young, they like to buy cakes and buns for supper. In short, almost every night around 10pm, we would eat supper before we went to bed. After both of them falls ill and discovered that they are having illness, then they had stopped taking supper. Both of them are now on medication, so need to eat right. It makes everyone of us try not to take any supper anymore. We don't want to ended-up having to be on medication at such a young age.

Healthy eating is eating regularly and in moderate amount. Do not over eat. Have a hearty healthy meal will keep the doctor away. Having late night meal is definitely no good for you health. Your digestive system needs to rest at night when you sleep. Do not let it work over time. A healthy person is a happy person.

Yes it could happen as the food isn’t digesting properly. This especially happens when a person always takes his meal and would instantly jump off his bed to sleep. Last night I have eaten a meal late in the night and done eating about 12midnight. I stand up for a little while but still full when I decided I had to hit the sack. Too sleepy and need to get up early in the morning for work. Thankfully, I encountered no problem with my motion.

It is true. many of people have this habit of taking meals in late night. Surely late dinner creates digestion problem. Because after taking dinner they go to bed. There must be at least one hours distance between dinner and bed. Ayurveda says that after 10 p.m dinner should not be taken.

Hi fanta dear, The meals should be taken in time and with proper intervals. However, I know the business people especially those who are running shops may get back to home very late in night and eat their dinner after 11 pm. I read that if anybody eats dinner late then should be awake for sometime to digest the same. Unfortunately many are going to bed soon after finishing their eating as they must be tired and sleepy. However, I felt that if a person regularly takes his/her dinner lately and at a fixed time, their body may be adjusted with it. In that case there won’t be any health issues. This is my observation only. The recommended time of having dinner is at 7 pm.

Hi Fantabulus, We have a saying that breakfast eat like a king, lunch eat like a rich man but dinner eat like a beggar. This means that dinner should be as light as possible because in night body rests so it don't need to spend energy on digesting rich food. Also medically people should eat at least 3 hours before going to bed for proper digestion. So i feel yes we should take food well before we go to bed.

Hi fantabulus, We all know that we should eat light in dinner and not eat very late. You have rightly said about indigestion due to eating very late and eating in front of tv always make people to over eat. People should take proper food at proper time in day. That is very essential for good health.

I agree in the previous days every thing used to be so systematic . But now everything is changed. No proper timings maintained for eating is one of them. Not only loose motions people even get constipation and also gas problem because of lack of proper timings in eating. yes of course we should change for better health .

Heavy meal at midnight, of course not good for health. Calories will accumulate, because after eating no more activities to burn the energy we just get from food. Dinner should not be too much, and try not to consume too many carbohydrates in your dinner menu.

Who are in work, they eat when they get time to eat. Eating intervals come between work, this is not a habit and nobody will risk their job or business. When I go to work, there I eat only during rest time and dinner after returning to home only. I never found this as a habit, I remember when I was a kid we always had a break (recess) period when we eat our tiffin but this was a routine only during school days, we never had such time during sundays and other holidays.

its not healthy at all,we are advised to have dinner about 3 hours before bed time.being business people they are probably caught up with time then the best woild be to take a heavy lunch and a very light dinner to avoid digestion problems ,plus this late eating also makes people add more weight.
