Is there anyone who still feels that the earth is the only planet that has life?

Today we know that there are innumerable planets in space, and that our little planet is but a speck of dust in comparison. Is it even conceivable that we alone have life? In the middle ages, people believed that the earth was the center of the universe and that the sun revolved around the earth. Today, we know that even our sun is small compared to most stars. What do you think?

This will always be a moot point, unless we actually encounter life from another planet to clarify the issue finally.
We consider space to be infinite, which is not necessarily true but it is the only explanation that it within our ability to conceive, despite the fact that we are unable to truly comprehend infinity. One thing that we are certain of is that there are probably more solar systems throughout space than we can even imagine, so the potential of life elsewhere would be very good.
In opposition to this the conditions required for life are indeterminable, so there is no guarantee that life does exist anywhere else.
Our biggest obstacle is the comprehension of life. Scientists have set out standards by which life can exist, but they were only attained by observation of life on this planet. Life could well exist in such different forms that we would not even be aware that it was life if we encountered it.

Hi Asylum, Thank you for your response and you make some good points. There is much that our finite minds cannot comprehend and for us, there can be no end to space. I firmly believe that there is a natural order to all things, although I don't presume to understand it. It seems to me that everything in the universe is alive in some way,and that includes the earth and other planets. New planets are being created as old ones die, just as happens with humans and indeed with all life. Blessings.

I most certainly believe in extraterrestrial life.
The scriptures refer to persons composed of energy, whose technology is far beyond our current understanding.
Do they inhabit other planets?
Do they need to?
The scriptures seem to indicate that they don't but it would be silly to be dogmatic about it as we simply do not have information one way or another.
I think that there is much yet to learn, once the mess here gets straightened out.

I am a firm believer that there are other species out there, and we are not alone in the Universe, the reason why we haven't seen other terrestrials out there is that probably view Earth as primitive, us humans have a thirst for war and have no capacity for seeking peace, so they have kept their distance. I don't think we are ready for a 'meeting' with extra-terrestrial life forms certainly not in this millennium or the next, that is if Earth is still around that long.

I don't think that the life exists in the earth only. The universe is quite large. There are so many space that we are unable to explore. I believe there must be something out there. We just have no ability to visit there yet.

Before scientists can find any proof that there is life in other planets, I still believe that our planet is the only one where life exists. Scientists have been working hard to find creatures in other planets and I wish they would find life elsewhere soon. Thanks for the discussion, Pose. Take care.

Hi williamjisir, Thank you for sharing and you seem to be in the minority here. When you consider the vastness of space, it would be unlikely that this little speck of dust would be discovered by another civilization. Maybe someday we will find something for ourselves. Blessings.

It has crossed my mind before that I would be very selfish in thinking that in this vast universe, we are the only ones..the only things. I think that we may never see or truly know but I am not one to think that we are it either. There are so many places and so many things that are still left unknown that nothing would really surprise me if they found it...well...I might be a little surprised..but just that I was around to see it..lol.

Hi al1979ex, Thank you for responding and I expect that we will meet other lifeforms someday, but it probably won't happen in our lifetime. We have not yet learned to live together in peace here on earth and I think we must achieve that before we move on. Blessings.

Depends on how you define "life"... I guess statistically speaking, there has to be some form of life, however rudimentary it may be... Even here on earth, there are so many different types of "single cell" organisms... If you count them as "life", then yeah, I believe there are plenty of life out there in the universe... But as far as more complex form of life, until they physically find solid proof, I wouldn't hold my breath... I'm not saying life doesn't exist, I'm just saying I wouldn't believe it till they find it...

Of course earth is not the only planet in our universe or multiverse that contain 'Life'. Other planets in our galaxy and other galaxies may not have human beings living there, due to various reason, but 'Life' of various species and forms do exit out there, we just have to seek them out and continue to explore.

Hi lampar, Thank you for commenting and we agree. I also believe that there are those who are far more advanced than us, and who probably know a lot about us. Soon we will have the means to visit planets must further away. Exciting times are just beginning. Blessings.

Hi Pose: Probably some fundamentalists that think that life in other planets could not exist because it's on their Holy Books which is... nm comments.
I think that knowledge is infinite that we, as human beings could not be so egomaniac to consider that this is the only living planet in the whole universe.

Hi starsailover, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I couldn't agree more. As for others watching us, an interesting question was asked in the comment just before yours. In a universe so large, what are the chances of a little speck of dust like us being noticed by others? These are not the exact words but the question is the same. It is possible of course that others have been here - maybe we were even colonized by those whose planet was dying. Who knows what changes there will be in a million years from now? Blessings.

I still think so too. Otherwise, we would have been visited by other creatures or beings from other planets. If these creatures from other planets look and behave like us, then we would have made friends with them, but no, not even the internet has made us in contact with any of them on this planet.

I think that there are still many people who believe that earth is the only planet with life. I am not one of those people. I believe that there is other life out there, maybe not in our own solar system but outside of our own solar system. I do not believe that earth is the only miracle or accident where it all came together and produced life.

It is theorised that there is bacterial life in the clouds on Venus, the next probe to Venus will hope to confirm this.
We are one Planet in a small solar systems - There are Billions of solar systems in the Universe.
The Universe is also not the same age across its expanse, there are parts older than than ours.
A more advanced lifeform could live there.
There is a myth that if advanced life existed in the Universe, they would have visited us... Unlikely.
How would they find us?
The Universe is huge - It would be impossible for anyone to stumble across us

Hi robspeakman, Thank you for sharing and that is an interesting point. It would be like looking for a needle in a haystack only much more so. I think that it's extremely probable that there is life out there, likely on Billions of planets, and maybe some have discovered us but the chances are slim unless they are very highly evolved. Blessings.

I can't say that I truly believe there are other life forms outside our planet but I feel that it is not impossible given the facts that you have just stated and some theories and stories being spread around. It's hard to know the truth when it's not there or being hidden from us. I guess eventually will find really find out, right?

I am pretty sure we are the only planet in the universe that has life. I don't there are any other planets out there besides earth that have the right conditions to support life.

Hi keeperdream, Thank you for sharing. To me it seems impossible that there would not be life on other planets. There are so many planets out there that we cannot number them, why in the world would this little speck of dust be the only place with life? Blessings.

Hi Pose. Yes, I believe there is life on other planets. They are probably many thousands and millions of light years away from us, but there are some 'earth like' planets in this universe and I can imagine many other universes are somewhat like our own. I think I would be quite backward in my thinking to believe we are unique to all of the universes.
