Food fights.. Do they actually happen or are they only in the movies and in TV shows?
I am sure someone out there has been in a food fight in the school cafeteria or something like that. If so, tell me about your experience.
For myself, this was just a mini food fight - nothing big - where I was working at the time on a farm, we had a corn fight. Yes, we threw corn at each other. It did not last very long, and it was quite random but we got in trouble by the boss if I remember right.
The most well known, and probably the most fun and largest "food fight" on earth is the one over in Spain where people throw tomatoes at each other. I can not remember what town/city it is in and what the festival is called. But I was thinking I may one day like to try that. I have been to Spain before, and it is a very wonderful country. It would be nice to return, and to try the food fight at the same time :)

Oh my goodness yes they do. When I was in high school we had two food fights in the cafeteria. The students were made to clean up the mess, they were suspended for three days and the principal was not happy. It was hilarious, no one got hurt, there was a lot of food wasted, but it sure did put a smile on our faces. I don't even remember how it started, but it was the "jocks" who threw the first piece of food.

Haha, wow not even just one, but TWO food fights! That is quite crazy I must say. And of course it would be the jocks who would start it, that figures. Thanks for sharing. The weird thing is that there weren't really any cliques at my school in high school or atleast not the typical one's. And we never had any food fights at my high school, probably a good thing though, even though it might have been somewhat fun.

Well, it is probably for the better that you have never been in a food fight. When I was in a food fight with corn, it sort of hurt, lol. It wasn't like they were throwing pieces of corn at me. We were throwing whole ears of corn are each other, and they were pretty big as well.
Anyways, the point is you weren't really missing out on anything. Though, I still think it would be really interesting to go to that one food fight over in Spain where they throw tomatoes at each other, but it would also be really gross to be covered in tomato guts.. Gross!

I never seen that happen in my country, Malaysia. By the way, I feel it is a kind of wastage. In Malaysia, eventhough that kind of food fight does not happen, but there's another kind of food fight is happening. There's one openhouse I went, there's a tray of fried chicken on a table. Then, came so many people go to rush and grab the fried chicken and somemore with bare hands until the whole tray of fried chicken fell onto the floor. What a terrible food fight!

Yes, it is free for the public, that what openhouse is about. Among all the openhouse I went, this is the most outrageous one. It is very disgrace as if they never been eaten any friend chicken before or never been eaten for years. If other countries saw this happening, what the message been send out would be? Just like the year-end-sale where many will rush for it.

Yes it is a waste, as other people have said so as well.
Ah, at the open house you went to, the fight that happened, I believe that was a bit of a stampede that happened. I can't really think of any other word to describe it. Maybe a "free for all" is an even better phrase to describe what happened.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well to be very honest i have always considered the very act of food fights very offensive and extremely foolish at the same time. I think we are not only degrading our status and dignity with such foolish acts but also disrespecting the food itself.
There are many starved children in this world who stay without food for days and see what people are doing via food fights. If we are angry then lets not use food as our weapon, our words and conscience should be our weapon.
What say?

I agree with you. We should not waste a food for a food fight. There some country people in there really need a food. If we have a lot of food we should donate it to them not waste a food for food fighting.

You are welcome, now thank you for your very intelligent response. You are correct, even though some people may consider a food fight to be fun, it is a big waste of money and that food could go towards starving people.
The so called "food fight" that I was in did not necessarily waste food though. It is too hard to explain but none of the food we threw at each other was damaged. That I can say was a good thing.

I don't think it will ever happen in our place since food is considered sacred here. According to old folks playing with the food will cause "bad luck" or "bad karma." We must do everything to respect what we are eating and should be thankful for anything we see on the table. Playing with it like using it in fights is a big sin.

As I have said before, I agree it is not necessarily a good idea to waste food or mature to do so either. But you are correct with everything you said. Food may not be considered "sacred" here in Canada though, but I think no matter where you are in the world it is frowned upon to waste food.

Whenever I think of the food fights that I used to watch on American kid shows I always think: what a waste of food. I'd never throw food at someone else, I'd look for something else if I felt like throwing something at someone. Maybe that's just because of how much I love food and I'd much rather eat my own than waste it by chucking it at someone else.

Fair enough my friend, fair enough. As I have mentioned before quite a few times, I do not necessarily promote food fights or anything like that, and for the most part I am against them.
I thought this line was funny "I'd never throw food at someone else, I'd look for something else if I felt like throwing something at someone." Haha! That made me laugh a little bit :) I hope it was something that did not hurt, such as snow :P
