Laid-Off Because I Stand Up For Myself

I have recently graduated form a university. it has been hard finding a job in my field, so I completed my post-grad certification, in order for myself to get a specialty. However, due to the recent recession, it has been hard even with very specific fields. Therefore, I have been trying to do various jobs, so that I can survive and pay my bills. Of course, I am working on bigger projects - my book, my own business. All of those would take time. So, still, in the meantime, I have to work wherever it is possible to do so. One thing that has been preventing me from ending with certain employers on a good note is that I stand up for myself. I fight for my dignity. There have been already two cases, in which I had to quit because my Manager's attitude would be obnoxious. If a certain jerk (above me in the employment hierarchy) abuses me verbally, I respond in the manner twice harsher than he could have ever given me. As a result, I lost a couple of my jobs. But I have been okay searching and finding something to survive on. So, I have no regrets and/or hardship whatsoever. For those out there that take some crap from your employers, please, find a by-law in your judicial system that would defend your right for your dignity. Fight back with the law. Don't take any abuse from your employers. It is always worth in the end to walk away with your dignity. Follow you bliss, and don't let certain little occurrences in your life ruin you.

You are a man with rebellious spirit, and you really did a good job,we don't need to stoop to compromise to anyone, even the one is our superior or boss.I deem it as my own sufferings, one month ago,I quitted my last job because I found I stayed depressed those days and one day I realized the happiness can be bought, but the money canbe earned otherwhere,if you could not be happy and feel free to work, the day we spent just like a year,so we need to find a satisfying job so that we can focus on the work.I really hope that you can pull through the hardships and settle down soon, you'll surely find a good job, good luck to you.

Every one in their own career fields are suffering one way or another. They have their own stories to tell, but I can guess one of the many reasons why they take on verbal abuse and other forms of let down coming from their immediate bosses and that is, having no choice. It is a sad reality that it is hard to find a job that pays good and is within their field of studies so when finally they landed on something which is a means to make ends meet, they have to stay on regardless of the situation. I, for one knows several employees who are treated by their managers like PA's and house help far from their work specs, and all I can do for them is listen to them pour out their wounded feelings and bring forth their concerns to the higher office.

Perhaps, it's best to always aim for being your own boss. I started developing that mentality. Hence, all the goals that I want to achieve are related to working for myself. Any savings tools or steps to take towards being financially independent?

No matter what you should always stand up for yourself. Keep you dignity and don't stoop to their level. My son was the same way in that he would not let anyone belittle or berate him. I always stood behind him no matter whazt.

I take my hats off to you! Not everyone can stand up for themselves the way that you do fearing that they will loss their jobs. And yes, they tolerate such incredulous characters.
