i was just browsing my facebook, and one of my friend share how people never appreciate what they have, keep search for other.
it make me remember of of the story.
teacher: i want u all go to the field and pick the beautiful grass for me
student: yes!
30minutes later
student: i have nothing for u
teacher: why?
student: u said, as i walk straight search for the best, never look back.
so, as i walk, i ask myself, there must be more beautiful compare to this one. i
walk and walk, until i reach the end of the field.
teacher: that goes to our life, sometime, what u have now is the best until u did not realize it, keep looking for other. in the end. there is nothing for you

ifa, does that mean that you will wait forever to get married and do a lot of other things in life because you always think that you will find something better? I mean in some ways waiting till the end in search for the best and most perfect does tend to not work for many things in our life. Okay, we can appreciate a current job, while aspiring for a promotion or working to gain experience for a career job while we are going to school. Still, we cannot wait for the perfect job and reject other good job offers just because we think the next offer will be better. What if the better one never appears? What do we do then?

I like it... What a nice story and it is really happening. Many of us wants to have the best but ends up with less... That is an irony of life too, but mostly that irony is the thing we made... So I still believe in my perception that 'happiness will always be the contentment'...

You said it absolutely right! We will find happiness even from simple things because if we keep on looking for the best, those simple things will get ignored and when we realize their worth then most often the simple things are not anymore there...

We only really, truly, appreciate what we have when we actually lose it! I think most of us are guilty of taking things and indeed people for granted, it's only when they are not there any more we realize to the extent just how much we appreciated them or should have appreciated them when they were around, that is why it is important to appreciate what we have today, we might not have it, or the person tomorrow!

Exactly, it's not every day that opportunity come knocking at your door.
So, once you missed it- probably you lost the chance of a lifetime.
People are too greedy that instead of appreciating the things that they have, they still look and search for more.
Let's be contented with what we have and be thankful.

While I will agree with you that there are a lot of people in the world that don't appreciate what they have, I have to say that I am not one of those people that doesn't appreciate what I have. I've always been taught to be very appreciative of the things that I have in my life. We work hard to have what we have and the fact that we are able to meet all of the basic needs that we have is something that is quite enough for me.
Granted there are some things that I would like to have that I don't have, but I don't lust after those things, I still appreciate those things that I have.

Well many times the grass is not greener on the other side. Even when we do hold unto something thankful for what we have it lets us go. Then, we are still left with nothing. I think in life we have to learn when to hold onto things and when we must let them go. Just like we must decide when we have found what we are searching for in life. At some point you have to decide that you have found what you are looking for in your life. This comes with trusting your instincts and trusting others. A lot of times, we do not trust so we end up overlooking a treasure. It is like if I was searching for something on the internet. I do not have infinite time to see every search result and view each site. So, I must some point state that my search has come to an end with me finding the information to satisfy my query. Just like in life, we cannot search our entire life for something or we will end up chasing the rainbow to find the pot of gold that we sought was all in vein.

Yes, we need to learn to appreciate things, and I think that requires us to live in the present. If you are living in the future, you will never see what you have today as good enough because you think something better will come tomorrow. Living in the past, you will always be looking back at happier times, and that will cause you to feel unsatisfied with the present.
So, how do we learn to live more in the moment?
