Hi everyone who eats (or has eaten) garlic,
I'd like to know if any of you have ever had health issues originating from consuming garlic. The reason why I'm asking is that I may have but I'm not sure.
I know that I've eaten it many times before (contained in Tzatziki together with Kebab or Gyro) a couple of years ago when I was still a meat eater. But a few days ago I obtained some garlic cloves myself for the first time. What I did was - a quite crazy thing to do - eating it raw. At the very moment of touching my tongue the garlic almost burned like fire in my mouth. Still I swallowed the little piece. Two days later I cut three garlic cloves into smaller pieces and put them into the microwave oven. Then I ate it with bread and egg. Now, one day later I feel a strong pain in my larynge each time I swallow something (even if it's my own spittle) plus I have red specks on my belly and my back. Now I have had such specks before but they were smaller and only appeared when I was exhausted due to sporty activity.
Have you had similar symptoms or do you know someone who had after consuming garlic? And if so, what is the cause, could it be an allergy? Should I stop eating garlic or perhaps my body first has to adapt to this ''new'' type of food?
plz share your thoughts

Yes, I have eaten garlic raw a lot of time, but it can burn especially I have found, if I have a mild infection. I have found it excellent for all sort of ailments and often apply garlic oil to a cut that has become infected. It burns like crazy, but then healing takes place.
You could have an allergy to garlic, and it may be wise to seek further advice from a health practitioner. It has never damaged my health, only improved it, but we are all different and should take care to get things checked out. _Derek

meanwhile the pain in the throat is going away, so it really seems like I'm allergic to garlic. That's really sad because I wanted to make regular use of it like you do as I have read about the health benefits of garlic. But there are a couple of other plants with similar health benefits I could use. Thx for your comment!

thanks for your advice. I'll follow it. I hope that the red specks will go away soon and that the pain in my throat stops. Then I'll perhaps try a small piece again and see what happens - unless someone on Mylot has had similar or same symptoms. In that case I'd stop eating it right now.
