Since last week, I noticed that the malls have lengthened their mall hours. This is to cope up with the people’s demand for a longer time for their shopping. Just yesterday, we cut short our buying of gifts for the raffle draw and games for the Christmas party because I felt dizzy. There were lots of people, and it seems they have lots of money to spend. It seems that the Christmas season is synonymous with spending and that the people have lots of money, as evidenced by the voluminous number of buyers in the malls. No wonder, some people gets depressed when the Christmas season comes.

Annual season like Christmas is always making people splurge. Those who are poor cannot buy as many as those are well off, to be sure. If you want to do the shopping peacefully without shoving, you can do it in early December, I think.

I think people just buy for the sake of buying, the shops are hardly closed over the holiday period so I can't see why people have ot buy so much food. Much of it will be wasted

I can understand their rush in buying, anne. They already received their 13th month pay or bonus so they have the money. Second, they are going to avail of the sale that are offered. They need to have some foods for the Noche Buena ( Dec. 24 12 am, which denotes that it's 25, Christmas day already) which is a tradition of the Filipinos.

Well, credit card is also useful. As long as you know how to pay them , you won't be buried into debt.

There may be some reasons. First, the Christmas is coming and people want to prepare for the Christmas in the last minute. Perhaps they will have good discount to buy gifts now. Second, I think the doomsday is a good selling point from the businessmen. The predication say the world will be end on December 21. So people want to buy something for themselves as a treatment. It is time to treat yourself better. In such kind of situation, it encourages people to purchase much more.

Well discounts at the malls abound. Sale here and there, so much so the people are frantic of buying them because some have already received their 13th month pay and in addition some bonus.

I know people are going crazy, its not even as if the shops are going ot be closed for many days over the christmas period, not likein days gone by when everywhere shut for two weeks. I wonder where people get all the money from to shop with. I only hope they are not putting it all on credit cards as that will make them depressed in the new year when they have problems paying it all back. Love, hugs and kisses cost nothing and mean the world

That's true Anne. Some may not have money but they have a purchasing power through their credit cards. They keep swiping them, and in the end , the new year will be filled with debts to pay.

Well it is common to have that numerous people on the malls, they have been really preparing things for their noche buena, as well as buying gifts for their friends and relatives. Since we all know that mostly during Christmas it is the time of giving, and it is expected that there are lots of children will be asking for their gifts haha.

Actually, i noticed in the boutique area that the mothers are buying new clothes for their daughters to use in their Christmas parties. At the grocery, i guess for their noche buena , yes. At the children's section , gifts for their godchildren, nephews and nieces. I was one of them.

Malls are taking the advantage of this holiday season. People get depressed most after the season especially when they start receiving bills from credit cards :p I try to avoid going to mall during this season due to crowd

That's true Jaiho. Malls are really taking advantage of the holiday rush. The longer they are open, the more people will be going there. And yes, people gets depressed when they see the billing they have for their credit cards, which they have been swiping to buy their gifts and new things. And just like you, i do my buying of gifts earlier. I feel dizzy just seeing the mall goers.

Nobody wants to be called the Grinch so we buy gifts for our loved ones and that is synonymous to spending. Plus it really makes someone happy to see that people appreciate the gifts you gave.

Well, you are correct my friend. That's why people as early as last week have been going to the mall to canvass for the gifts that they will be giving. And when the bonus comes, they buy it. Hopefully it's still there , though.

People spend a lot during the season of christmas simply because they have bonuses.. and for that matter they tend to buy things or gifts for their loveones and even for them selves as a treat for a whole year of hardwork.. and that is why even malls extend their mall hours to accommodate all their costumers demand.. so everybody happy..

Yes that's true neelia. People have their bonuses so they have money to spend. And this only comes once a year and that is , Christmas. Hence, malls are really prolific during the Christmas season. If you don't have money to spend, then you can just go to the mall so you will catch the festive mood of everyone.
