Hot Pants

Different occasions demand different clothes. We have clothes while we lounge at home, clothes while we are doing gardening..... Then there is the office attire, formal wear, swim wear, and so on. What I do not understand is why fashion designers have introduced hot pants for formal evening wear. Is it necessary that women should were such outfits at formal functions? A flowing gown on the other hand would add grace to any woman.Would you be happy wearing hot pants as an evening wear or appreciate someone else with it? Your views please.

Hahaha, this is so cool... why not? Most of the time hot pants go with wonderful flowing blouse and stiletto heels. oh well, if I have a beautiful body I could have worn the same if it is already accepted by the society, why not. If I have best shaped butt and no bellies swinging left to right as I walk, then why not.

Why would you want to reveal your body to anyone other than your husband? Just curious!

Here in Italy, as long as something is not vulgar, it seems to fit any occasion at all.
I have great admiration for those long-legged ladies who can wear those hot pants so elegantly and I see that they are accepted almost anywhere.
Here it is winter with snow on the ground but while out shopping today I see them in hot pants with stylish thick woolen stockings which look so smart.
Long gowns are rarely seen here these days except for opening nights at the opera an the like.

Here they are 'in' for evening wear too and not just among the stars and the elite.

O.K. May be not long gowns but surely not hot pants for a formal do. I have particularly mentioned wearing hot pants as a formal evening wear. Seeing someone wearing hot pants and shopping is fine by me.

i told you.. hot pants are okay, they go with something more chic style, like scarf and stiletto shoes... and of course, nice coat... cold countries.

No, I wouldn't wear something like that for a formal function. I would rather wear a beautiful dress if I have occasion to do so.
While I wore somewhat skimpy clothes at times when I was younger, my attire has gotten a lot more modest as I've gotten older. For instance, I still wear the short skirts, but they are worn over leggings. I still look youthful, but I no longer look like I am on the market for a boyfriend (or worse). I have a boyfriend whom I wish to marry, and I have placed greater value back on myself than I did in my wilder days.
Fashion designers will design just about anything. However, what hits the runway isn't what will hit department stores; toned down versions, instead, are offered up. Still, with something such as this, it is questionable as to whether most women would even wear a toned down version--not as a matter of modesty but, rather, of taste and convention.

All said and done a modest attire is something worth looking at. I doubt if any man would choose a girl as his bride if she was seen in skimpy clothes at formal functions or even in places where the dress code demanded something more modest. Skimpy clothes seem to be the order of the day specially among girls who have been brought up in an environment devoid of etiquette.

Hot pants are not my thing neither casually or formal. I think there is something to be said about leaving some things to the imagination. I would be very very uncomfortable in something like that anywhere. Maybe I am being prudish but...not for me.

Right...I wear skimpy stuff to swim and sleep in but not in public. I remember ranting on here once about going to buy my girls summer shorts and all the department stores around here offered were the "stylish" shorts that looked like blue jean underwear. Those hotpants I guess they were. I didn't know what they were called. No way I was buying them for young girls. I ended up taking some of their jeans and making shorts. Cost me as much as the "hot pants" would have. Not all the way to their knee or anything like that but an appropriate length...mid thigh at least.

I have always felt that women exposing themselves beyond a limit is not called for and wearing such an outfit for a formal function would raise questions on the intentions of the wearer. I think there should be a limit put on fashion designers just as how movies are censored. It is the craze to go for the latest trend that such fashions continue to survive. I can understand wearing skimpy clothes for practical reasons such as while doing manual work or while swimming, etc.

I could not see myself wearing hot pants, coz I know that I don't look good in those. But there are people who could pull that off in any kind of occasion and a lot would be admiring them. Nothing wrong with wearing one for as long as you can look good in it.

Most don't look good in them jenny and certainly not at formal 'do's. Normally clothes are defined when people are invited for formal occasions and I am sure the host will not ask them to come in hot pants!. Mostly men's wear is defined but with some opting to come in their swim wear it has become a rule now to even tell women what they should be wearing.

Hi,
Yes my votes goes to flowing gown or Saree which makes woman more graceful.
Looking at hot pants it gives me feeling as some one sitting at home in her own comfort or enjoying holiday near beach.

These fashion designers will go to any end to do something odd and there are people who will follow them. I was just imagining someone doing a waltz to the tune of the Blue Danube wearing this outfit.

And that's what they call as "CREATIVITY"
Such type of clothing we watch in our bolloywood movies.
You remember cocktail, Deepika wore such cloths in full movie.

I thought so too. Nothing like a gown which I consider to be a graceful attire for a formal wear.
