My husband has the business trip and now he stays in a far away city. This afternoon at about 3:45 he told me that it became dark in his side. Hard to believe as it was so early but it seems to be at night in his side. This is why I like the southern places since we have a longer daylight. Sometimes I will feel upset if I go off work but it is already dark outside. If it is still bright, it will give me a good mood.

Hi youless, I had visited your place and learned that the day was short during winter time. Yeah, by the end of the year. My husband and I were there at the end of Nov and the first 3 weeks in Dec. I couldn't have our sightseeing for it's dark outside completely at around 4.30 pm Not to wasting time we had to wake up early every day we then could visit more tourist sites in a single day. I was glad that when visiting south island of New Zealand last month day time was longer than night. We still could enjoy sightseeing until 6 pm. It's really amazing that it's still very bright outside even it's already 9 pm. We enjoyed taking photos yet somewhere in the neighborhood near our hotel Happy posting

Yeah, we have sunshiny day all the year round Lots of tourists from temperate countries escape from the chilly cold and spend their long holidays here. I could see them enjoy sunbath at the beach, whereas women here included me hate to get suntan and usually would walk under an umbrella

Thanks for the BR Haven't rained for a couple of day. Rainy season seems to be over. I miss the wet season that is so comfortable and I don't mind taking troublesome to hold an umbrella I think the weather in your place is still very cold. I hope it won't be severe cold during Spring Festival. Have a nice day

I don't enjoy the mid-winter when it get dark around 14 PM (4-5 hours of daylight). I enjoy the snow etc, but not the lack of light. However, I wouldn't miss out on the summer days when it never really get dark. Can't have just one of them, unless I get a job so that I can spend mid-winter in middle Europe and go back up north every summer :-)

You just take the normal time it get dark, say around 6 pm. Then the same happens 4 hours earlier :-) It's not too bad here, but I know that when people move to the north of Norway (and probably places like Alaska and northern Russia) they get confused because it is dark for severeal weeks or months in the winter and then in the summer it is light all the time.

THis time of year is rather depressing. But in a few more months it will be sunny and light longer again. Atleast we have something to look forward to.

We don't get those early nights here in my country. I think 5:30pm is the earliest time for it to get dark. in the UAE it gets dark at around 4pm during winter time. but I havent been there for a year now so I dont know if it's still like that.

Here in Doha, winter season has just started since two weeks now.Even at six morning it is dark here but that is oonly for few hours. When the time hit at four afternoon the entire place of Doha is full of shining bulbs especially the malls such as Lulu Hypermarket, Villagio and other malls thus people here seem to love night time. The roads are always with busy traffic at night.

When it gets dark early in the Northern Hemisphere, it is the opposite here. Last night I came out from the basketball stadium after my son's Grand Final game and trophy presentation at about 8pm. We ended up going out to dinner afterwards as it was still light outside and did not feel like it was night time already...

It is nice. But I heard for those who have to fast during day time it would be much harder. They'd have to fast long hours waiting for the sun to set before they can break their fast.

Here in Bucharest, the sun seldom shines and it makes the place looks lonely for me. The sun when it comes out, usually after 12 noon then it begins to get dark around 3pm. It's not fun to go out at all.

There's nothing worse than going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark, and not being able to see sunlight, only through the windows, that is why a lot of people have SAD because they don't get much sunlight and some will buy these special lamps that give off light to help their SAD. It doesn't help either turning the clocks back in October, that adds to the darkness.

I miss the daylight too! It seems like I barely get up and it's dark!!! Fortunately I bought two lamps that give off light similar to that of the sun so that I don't get the winter blues like so many people do. The lamps are manufactured by Ott, and they not only provide artificial sunlight to those with winter depression, but it also is a wonderful tool for crafters because it provides actual colors when the light shines on them rather than colors that are untrue due to the yellow of the regular light bulb for lamps or lights or the blueish hue from florescent lighting. I lived in Montana for 6 years and during the summer the daylight lasts until 10 p.m. It was wonderful!!! Unfortunately the winters are snowy and COLD. I don't like either so I moved back to California to be close to my parents. Thankfully it isn't too much longer before spring comes and then we go back to summer weather...when it is sunny and warm outside it is hard for me to wait to plant seeds in my garden! Until late February/early March I have to wait to start planting.

I am living in the southern of China, the time of darkness in these days are usually longer than 16 hours. I found that I got up in the dark and went back to home in the dark. While during the light time, I have to stay in the room to do my job. Far from the nature, can not bring me any happiness. That is the very reason for me like summer, at that time, I have the time to see the sun during a day.

Youless, as for my area, the sky usually will be dark at around 7pm. I ever traveled to another state which is faraway from my home, where i discovered that their area dark at around 6pm. It really surprises me a lot since i am not used to be in the dark at such an early time. Same like you, i prefer the area which the sky don't dark so early. Like my area here, which only dark at 7pm.
