Cook & Co. can conquer the whole world

India

The morale boost they got by beating India will do a world of goods for this English team. They have the potential to travel all round the world, and win every-where, like Australia had done. Their batting is good, Compton is a great find( they are not going to miss Strauss much), Joe Root is yet another good find and Swann is the one that provide X-factor to this side. Cook is a great runs making machine. In the coming Ashes, Swann is going to be the difference. South Africa has beaten them but that is under Strauss captaincy amidst some great controversies surrounding Pieterson. Beating them under Cook is not going to be easy for any team anywhere in the world. Cook and Co is on a rampage. Stop if you can.

I think the success of this England team has been as much due to the incompetence of the Indian team as much due to their own competence and determination. I think they will struggle against other more competitive teams such as South Africa and Australia which will really come hard at them. Already Warne is getting to roll his arm one more time in the next Ashes series. Is the alarm BELL already ringing? Cheers! Ram

Sorry ram_cv, i do not agree with you even one bit. Australia is going to struggle against this rejuvenated England team. Coming Ashes will tell every thing. We will have a discussion after the Ashes. Talking of SA, they are a great team but I'm afraid once Kallis form dips( it's going to be very soon) they will loose a lot. SA will too find a bit difficult to beat this England team. Australia ruled for so many years because they had Warne as an X-factor. These non subcontinent teams can handle best of pacers but not best of spinners. That X-factor is now with England in the form of Swann. Warne is not going to play any test matches. These are clear rumors and I can guarantee he will never play International Cricket again in his life.

:) Then we just have to wait and watch for the Ashes which is not too far away. :) On the Warne front, I agree it is just rumors and I had mentioned that comment as a sarcastic remark on the rumor. :) Cheers! Ram

In this discussion I will agree with ram_cv. Indian team is underperforming nowdays so that will not prove England as world conquers. They have to beat the teams with high spirits and that too constantly to prove themselves. Before coming to India they have poor run in this season so they are not constant performers and one series win will not make them world conquers.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes u are absolutely right, the way the English team won depicts that they have learned how to play on sub continent conditions also. it is seen that most of the visiting teams have a very bad record on sub continental pitches and with this win, i am sure this team will do wonders in the future and moreover there are many good players in the team who are playing match winning knocks. What say?

Well it is not the England greatness here, I would say. Indian team was missing the likes of Laxman and Dravid in Indian condition. Indian openers were struggling for runs because of their poor form. When the start is worst then the middle order is always in pressure. Most of the players are coming to test cricket without good form. Especially Yuvaraj singh coming after cure from bad health. Pujura was promising in the first test and after that he was average. Dhoni, Kohli and Gambhir played small innings but not a big innings. This shows that these guys are used to smaller version rather than loner version of test cricket. Batting of Sachin was worst of all and they are many reasons for his bad form but truth is that he has played very badly expect one good innings and that too for lost cause. Why India lost to England is that Indian batting did not lived up to its mark. Reason's might be many, India losing test matches badly due to batting mostly. In India bowlers cannot do miracles, they can when they are in abroad but there bowlers were pathetic. Whatever BCCI and selectors have to sit together and select a team separately for tests. Captain too must be changed, it must be either given to Gambhir or Sehwag. Sehwag will be better option because his batting never is consistent and neither it will be in near future, so, captaincy burden is given to him. Gambhir, Dhoni, Kohli and Pujara must be more consistent with batting, without which India can never win matches. Coming to bowlers, India need to seriously look for more bowlers, present lot is tired and weak. Spinners are ok but pace attack looking very pathetic. SO, there is lot of scope for improvement for Team India. Coming to England they haven't yet conquered the spin attack of Pakistan. So, it is test for them against them. India was not well prepared for this series and I feel there is something wrong with coach because India never lost so badly against any team under the coaching of Gary Kirsten. There must be change in coach.

Why India is not well prepared? The series was not an impromptu one? Every player knew that England is coming and the series was billed as a "Revenge Series". Talking of Pakistan, they have some excellent spinners but I still feel that England team has come a long way after that drubbing against Pakistan. Cook has injected a new life to England and they are the team to beat now. England is not going to tour Dubai in near future, so they are not going to be tested much against Pak's attack much, but final frontier has been conquered by them. These forms of player, Sachin lack of form(it will remain now forever with him, solution : retire with dignity), Dhoni's uninspiring captainsy are all but excuses.

I agree with you. It was termed as a tough tour for England, but they overcome history, odds, first test wins and a good opposition lineup to win by 2-1. India on the other hand, could not maintain its winning tempo after first test at Ahmedabad, and got defeated in Mumbai and Kolkata test. Even in Nagpur, it was some good bowling, and knocks by Kohli and Dhoni that proved good for Indians. And yes, England seems to be in a good position to get and hold on to the number one position in test rankings.
