Have you ever noticed when people drink and tell a story the next day they always mention EVERYTHING they drank the day before and how much? I don't really care what you drank or how much of it just get to the point of your story already! Lol. Do they think it makes them sound cool or something? To me, since I am not a drinker at all it just makes them sound silly... Just my opinion though. Your thoughts...

It has always been a big deal to some as to how much a person ca drink and still remain standing. Some kind of rite of passage or something. Drinking is so stupid. People never just have a drink and feel relaxed. They have to have too much and then end up acting like an idiot. When I was young I wasted alot of money drinking and I sure wish I had all that money now. What a waste!

That's smart of you. I had my time with it when I was young. Drank it right out of me. Hangovers are no fun. It just isn't worth it.

It is stupid to me too. I don't think drinking is anything to brag about but I guess some people do feel the need to brag about it. Yeah I am glad I have never been a drinker. It runs in my family so I stay far away from drinking.

Most Mexicans are Tequilla drinkers. Do you agree with that?

Ugh, it is so annoying when people do that! I would not brag about how much I drank if I did drink either. To me that is just silly.

Sounds like something a highschooler does. I haven't come across this, though, not even when I was in high school.

Yeah they have to be pretty immature to be talking that way. It was a family member that said it and they are not in school anymore...

Hmm I've done this myself I think at times its to brag about how much I could drink without getting drunk. But sometimes you have to tell them how much you drank so they can grasp just how wasted you were and why it caused you to do the crazy things you did. I'm cringeing writing that because I've done some really stupid stuff when I've drank way to much.

Oh no I wasent offended at all dont worry. If I didnt like what you said I would have just skipped over the discussion. Some times people dont think about what they do until someone like you points it out. So I was thinking about the times I've done it lol.

Okay good I'm glad I didn't offend you because I would hate to do that. Your right, sometimes I don't realize I have done something stupid until someone else points it out. Then its like yeah that was silly of me, lol.

This discussion was not meant to be offensive sorry, I feel kind of bad now... I just didn't understand why people do it. I thought it was basically for bragging rights but they do it when I was not asking about how much they drank and it has nothing to do with the story! Lol. Its one thing to do it when we are younger but a much older person doing it really blows my mind.

Well there are certainly people like that. They tend to brag about how much they were able to drink as if to show that they are a good drinker and they do not get drunk right away. I think there is no reason to be proud or brag what or how many a person can drink. After all, it is bad for health.

Yes I know there are people like that. It drives me crazy. It is really annoying when people brag about how much they drink like their special for it or something... Too much drinking is bad for our health yes.

I don't drink too, but I don't mind them telling whatever. I would not just pay attention to their stories LOL. I just let it go, why would be I pissed off on silly matters I still so many things to think about.

I don't really pay attention either but when they are talking to me I don't want to be rude either and ignore them... Besides the fact that it was family...

When someone starts to get wordy, I'll just borrow a phrase that I learned from someone a long time ago: Can you just tell me the Reader's Digest version? I'm the impatient sort, and if I get frustrated enough, I might remember to say it. Or else I just stop listening to them -I know a few people that are guilty of embellishing everything!

I like to have the occasional drink, but that's ALL I want to have. And I try to nurse it all night. Some people are so self-absorbed that they just don't realize just have boorish they are to people outside of their circle!

Yeah, I should start saying that! Lol. I just hate when they feel the need to tell me EVERY detail of their drunken night. I don't care to hear about you drinking or how much you drank.

My friend comes over in the evening to see me and talks about all the intricate problems he had with his tractor that day. Or he talks about the various people he ran into and then the names of the people they work for, are married to and who is related to whom and who he went to school with. He will tell me 4 or more times the chores he did that day. He doesn't drink, he has some kind of autism but I don't care. I have no idea what or whom you are talking about and I could not care less. He is usually telling me all this just as a movie or decent show is starting on TV too.

Aw, I know someone like that too. She will tell tons of stories about her own life and tell of these people who I have no idea who they are. I just feel bad so I do listen to all her stories but sometimes it gets to be a bit much. I understand.

I hear ya loving...I certainly agree that it sounds silly for a drunk to brag about what they had to drink the previous night...most of the time is a shame especially when they admit that they drove home that night...and sometimes don't even remember where they parked their car.

It does sound very silly that they are bragging about it like its something good! Yeah its even more annoying when they say they drove home like that!

I don't really make a big deal about them saying those kind of things. They can be annoying though. Plus people to be proud drinkers disgust me. I do this barfing thing in my imagination but I don't comment on the issue. To me obsessive drinkers are not sexy, unattractive and uncool. It's as if they are bragging about how much they drink. I really don't mind if they talk about it once but if they talk about it so often it becomes boring and pointless. So when I see a guy or girl that drinks too much and gets drunk and behaves inappropriately, they turn me off and I lose my respect for them because they don't respect themselves even.
• Valdosta, Georgia

I don't make a big deal about it either. I just kept noticing it so I wanted to see if others notice it too. I wasn't mad about it I just think its silly to brag about such a thing! Yeah I lose respect when the person is drinking all the time and bragging about it. It is silly to me thats for sure!

It's a good I don't get to hang out with people who drink too much. Occasionally I do join in the drinking but stop immediately if my head starts to hurt. I just talk and talk with my friends so I won't drink. They don't force me to drink thankfully.

Truth, they always have to brag about something. They want you to feel good about them. Even f it's my friend i still tell them i dont care. Even if they had a date, they have to tell you every piece of details.

I know people like that and I think people do it just to brag. I also hate people who brag about driving home drunk! That is nothing you should be bragging about! Yikes! I do like hearing of people who are so drunk they have no memory on what they did! The funny stuff not the bad stuff, though! Sometimes you can't stop laughing hearing the funny stories!

I think they do it to brag as well. I don't see the point in it but oh well... This person was telling a story about their night and what happened. It really had nothing to do with the drinking but they went into a ton of detail about their drinks!

This is pretty common in guys. I work in a small shop so it is normal for them (sometimes, me) to exchange stories on Mondays on what we did on the weekend. On how wasted one got. And how may they drink. I think this declaration only works on other drinkers as well. Maybe they'd think that if one said they drank this much, they'd have to drink more to top that!

Yeah, I think because drinking has become such a sub-culture all on it's own, people almost turn it into a competition. Hence the jokes: 'You're such a lightweight'. So I do think when people reveal how much they've drank before telling a story it's because they think the quantity is somehow impressive or funny- but it's not. I agree with you. Just make your point.
