Armed teachers in classrooms? Really?

In a former career I sold police uniforms, and accessories. This was a very interesting job, because I dealt with many police officers on a daily bases who would love to talk your ear off. One of the officers that came in often was a school officer with the local sheriff's department. He required unique equipment to do this job. One of the accessories that he needed was a Triple Retention Holster for his weapon. This was a very expensive holster, and required a long wait to get it. He went through four of these in one year. Now, this deputy was 6' 4" probably 230LBS. black man who was built like a tank, and could easily take care of himself. The reason he was going through these holster so much was because students would try to take his gun from him. The reason he used this holster is because it is almost impossible to remove unless you know what you are doing. When the kids would try and grab it, the holster hide the trigger, and lock the gun in place making it impossible to remove. I tell you this story because many on the right, especially the intellectually challenged Governor of Texas has said that teachers should have guns in the classroom. I have a lot of respect for teachers, I have three step kids, and if I had to deal with 30 of them in a room for 6 hours a day 5 days a week I am sure you would need a body bag(s) for either them, or me. I agree that we need armed officers in schools, but I do not believe they should be teachers. What do you think?

I think St. Lou (Go Cardinals) had the best response. That's a prefect answer in my opinion. Just what we need teachers more focused on something else than doing their actual job and what they are so good at. People need to get a freaking clue.

WOW, once again we agree!
It really IS the end of the world!
Seriously, I agree with you. I was a teacher of 4-6 year old children at one time.

It is good to see you put your two cents in. Now I won't have to bother with the ignorant comments.
Thanks
