I am planning to apply and to be interviewed in some companies that I am applying for. The problem is that is only available during working hours so chances are I will be absent at work. There are already dates next year that I am planning to be absent because I am going to apply in other companies. Though I have many companies that I want to apply which is my problem is I can't do it at the same day and time because it will be depending on the process like you have to take exams, interviews and other more things that they are requiring.
I want to apply in consecutive days like 2 to 3 days. I am hesitate if I will excuse like I am going to vacation because what if they are going to see you somewhere?
Although do you think it is a good idea to tell the truth that I am going to apply in other companies that is why I will be absent for that consecutive days?
Honestly I really want to transfer to another company already because I am having problems in the salary to the extent that it suffers my transportation allowance.

Why you want to tell the boss of the company where you are working at present? You know and you have planned to leave this company and for which you are trying elsewhere, so keep this as secret with you only. If you are sure that you have go for the interview for 3 to 4 days continuously that to in different companies then I suggest you to apply for the leave. When on leave for the specific purpose and the reason like salary, then, don't think of anything go ahead and keep in mind to get well prepared for the interview. After all this is the question of your Career. All the best

Unfortunately I don't have leave here wherein I can file it as I am really in no work no pay basis except for holidays.

Then it is better to go for the interview and answer it. Surely you will be happy when you find the new job. All the best

Just reading the headlines, I knew right away you are from Philippines.....do you know that in our country is the easiest to make an excuse....go for a sick leave, so easy to get a medical certificate......go for an emergency leave, you need to fix some legal documents concerning properties, a relative from outside the country is coming, it was long time you have not seen him/her and you would be the escort etc., a family issue came up that needs your personal attention...alternatively you can use your vacation leave which you are entitled to....but its a NO NO to tell your boss that you are applying to another company, don't ever ever do that.

Thank you very much for the idea. Of all the choices I must say the relative from outside the country is coming would be the best choice.

hehe well i have applied in other companies myself last time i transferred as well and i need only say that i would be needing to take a leave (of course to go for an interview) to process some documents, get my government id, etc. haha this excuse has really worked great with me. Others in our company or some of my friends have used sickness as an excuse, they would call in sick and then they would go for interviews. :D

I think the best thing you can do is to apply for a leave. So what if somebody fro your office sees you. Your absence is acceptable. Much better of you do not tell them yet about your plans. Just inform them if you have already been accepted on your new job.

A leave is also a good idea. Just make sure you have a good excuse if you are spotted in a suit rather than in a jeans or anything.

The problem is even after 7 months of working with my recent company then I am not yet a regular employee so chances are I am no work no pay which means that I don't have a leave to file. I've already made some strategies for other companies like I would go there just once in a week then excuse it as I won't be able to go in the office due to my sickness or migraine.

I don't think it's a good idea that you tell them really. why? They can make your life hell whether you get accepted or not. More likely, if you don’t get accepted because you are stuck with them if the company you are applying for isn't gonna give an offer.
If I were you and you needed to be seen, ask if you could take a leave on the premise of somebody having sickens in the house and you're the only one left to provide care. you can’t say that you're the one sick because if somebody did see you, it’ll be awkward answering that question. You can make your own excuses after that.
Two to three days is a best guess. However, if you can coordinate these activities (tests, interviews, the works) in the same timeline, the better. This way, you can cover your bases. If you can, try to have a shortlist of the companies you really want to apply to At least, you could do less with more chances of being hired.

Thank you for the idea. That has been my worry as well as my boyfriend told me that I should tell them about my vacation but then what if somebody sees me somewhere after making excuse that I am not in Manila.
