Following the humiliating loss to England at home, all cricket lovers in India are expressing their lack of faith in Duncan Fletcher, the coach of the Indian cricket team and want him to be sacked immediately. Most of the ex-cricket players of India representing the country either in Test matches or in one-day cricket are also of the same view. But do you believe that Duncan Fletcher would be sacked immediately after the England series? Or would the BCCI allow him to continue till April, 13 when the contract with him will expire. If it is really so, then the coming Pakistan series will also be played under his coaching which is not desirable at all to any of the cricket lovers in India. Unless there is a dramatic change in fortunes, there will be a repeat of the results of the England series; the cricket lovers apprehend so. But it is also expected that the contract with Duncan Fletcher will not be extended once it expires. What’s your valuable opinion in this regard? Do you also want him to be sacked immediately or do you want him to continue till the end of the Pakistan series?

The reason is very simple; because the BCCI is run by politicians and not by cricketers. Every decision is taken by them, even the selectors have to abide by their dictation while selecting players for the Indian Cricket team. So, until the BCCI can be freed from these politicians who use to pose their noses in every affair related Indian Cricket, there would repeat of such disastrous results on the playground.

Hi Doctor
I did not find any news about that , i think Fletcher has the support of Dhoni so he may remain as a coach for another 5 months or so .May be Australia series is a test for both Coach and Dhoni .

There was severe criticism of Duncan Fletcher for his performance as the coach and some ex-cricketers demanded that he should be sacked immediately to save Indian cricket. But it was always apprehended that being in the good book of both Dhoni, the captain and the BCCI, he would be allowed to function as the coach of the team until the contract expires in April, 2013. And truly speaking, it is going to happen, I believe.

The coach plays the game from behind. He makes strategies, he rectifies the weakness of his player and points out the weakness of his opponent players so that his players can take advantage of it. In every game now-a-days, the coach plays a vital role. But, of course, the actual battle on the field is to be fought by the players.

actually to be fair the role of a coach in an international cricket team is very limited. an international team coach has very limited boundary. yes i do feel that duncan fletcher could have done better. but you can entirely blame fletcher for indian teams loss. indian team was under transition at that period with many senior players were about to retire. but if you see now the indian team has come back to its winning ways. with a new renovated team, with mix of youth and experience they have thrashed australia 4-0 but now i wont credit fletcher for this turn around. because thats how cricket is. a coach has a very limited role. you cant praise a coach for a teams win or you cant scold a coach when a team loses especially in cricket. as long as a coach is not causing any internal disturbances within the team as greg chappal did i am fine with any coach.

I feel all the criticism directly towards Fletcher is partly uncalled for. Yes, India's not been doing well but he's not to be blamed for it entirely. The players too need to take some flak for their performances. Dip in any team's performance is expected and I'm sure India will bounce back in the coming days.
