So THIS Is What Boehner Has to Contend With?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2012/12/21/defiant-tim-huelskamp-exasperates-msnbc-hosts/ HOW did someone like this ever get elected to ANY political office? I saw this contentious interview live on "Morning Joe" and I felt as exasperated and frustrated as Joe, Mika and the others on the who obviously were. Huelskamp obviously isn't willing to compromise on anything, from taxes to guns, but he sure is willing to accuse others of "politicizing" something as horrific and tragic as the Newtown massacre of 26 people including 20 beautiful, innocent little children. “It’s not a gun problem; it’s a people problem,” he said. Of course it's a "people problem"; it's also a problem of the wrong people having easy access to assault weapons with extended magazine clips, enabling them to literally mow down dozens of people in a few short minutes. I don't think for one second that banning assault rifles and the clips that enable 10, 30 or even 100 shots to be fired without reloading or closing the loopholes that allow nearly half of the firearm transactions in this country to go through without the "required" background checks would guarantee there would never be another Sandy Hook type mass murder. I know we need improvements in mental health care. I know our society has become increasingly violent from music lyrics to movies to video games. There is no "one size fits all" solution, I think most of us know that. However, how can any attempts to make any difference at all even begin when we have men like Tim Huelskamp serving in Congress refusing to even have a conversation, not to mention belittling and insulting anyone who disagrees with his views? I really can't believe I'm writing this, but I sincerely feel sorry for Speaker Boehner! I think he has at least a little bit of reason in him about different issues but how can anyone hope to "lead" people like Huelskamp, who apparently cares nothing about the nation and its people? How could anyone vote for this man and how can they possibly vote for him again in two years? I'm cautiously optimistic they won't two years from now! Your thoughts? Annie

From what my sister was saying they are going to put a Republican on everyday so we can see where there mind is really at. I hope they do and I do not want them to get away with their typical talking points. Make these people tell where they really want to take our country. These are some selfish people that only care about their own well being from what I have seen.

Annie, members of Congress are professional politicians with the ability to glad hand and win elections. Their triumph at the polls does not mean they are intelligent, knowledgeable, or honest. We've probably reached the nadir where political gerrymandering and the financial backing from special interests almost guarantee the election of many unqualified, stupid House members holding rigid views contrary to the best interest of the country. Such politicians could not win a Senatorial or national election or even be elected dog catcher in some places but do make a formidable bloc in the H.R. For better or worse, they are a product of our political system.
