Having a Rough Time of It

I wasn't sure where to put this but I guess mylot is good as any other category for it. Since returning here i am having a rough time. Not just in myLot but in general. I'm feeling depressed and I haven't felt that way in years, even while I was away just before these last couple days I did not feel depressed. Now all of a sudden I am. My activity everywhere is hindered right now but especially here in myLot because I can't get up the energy to participate how I should be. A large part of it is my stupid computer and my stupid connection. I hate that I have such a slow connection and the rest of the world doesn't have this issue. Its so easy to fall behind. I know sounds like a small issue right? Well for me, not really. I want to throw this computer out the window more than half the time. . . I am trying to secure a financial indepence here in the online earning community but really all I'm getting is a headache...

May I ask why you have slow connection? Some people have a slow connection but don't have to. Sometimes the problem is fixable. Or is it your service provider? I am sorry you are having such a rough time. I hold things get better very soon!

Well my slow connection isn't really an option I can do away with. I did for 2 years but now its just not possible, can't afford the other faster option. At this point, just 2 months ago, (I was gone two months and got back 2 days ago) I couldn't even pay for this option.

Echo, first of all welcome back friend! I think that one of the things that you have to realize is that sometimes we have to make cut backs especially during tough financial times. I would encourage you to try to stay positive about your situation. It is okay to acknowledge the setback, but at the same time I would suggest that you realize that the situation is temporary. I mean it might be tough right now, and slow speed might be what you have to deal with for awhile as far as your internet connection. It is important to realize that is still better than having no internet connection. Next, I would encourage you to think outside the box. Here are some things to ponder. Do you have a laptop or PC. I ask this question because especially if you have a laptop you may be able to go to place where they have WIFI connection for free for example the Library. If you can find good spots with free WIFI, you may be able to speed up your connection that way. Also, I would recommend try checking to see if you can find open WIFI signals to connect. Not everyone has their connection secured with a password, so you may be able to piggy back off of someone else's connection. Another option could be that if you have a neighbor whose connection has a far enough range for you to get the signal, you could talk with the neighbor to see if they would let you use their internet connection in exchange for you paying a portion of their internet connect. I mean it could be a win for both of you where you get a faster speed for about the amount that you are paying for your slow connection, and the neighbor is able to save some money. Ways to improve the slow connection speed may be to try to tune up your computer a little bit. Try emptying the Cache file and deleting all those cookies. Especially from working online, I find that the cookies and cache file gets so large that it starts to slow down your system. If you can keep those two things cleaned up, it will help your internet connection to run at optimal speed. You could also try to do disk defrag and disk clean up which helps your overal system to run faster. I would also recommend get creative. If you know that it going to take some time for the next page to load maybe you can multitask on another site. This will help you to feel more productive, and it may help to minimize your frustration over the slow internet connection. Take care, and I hope that things will improve for you in the very near future.

Aireanna hi there, I did miss you! Thanks for all the tips. I do keep cookies and cache cleared pretty well. I know it can fill back up quickly while working online. I think the disk defrag though is somewhat over do... I am on a PC so I can't lug it to the library That would be a funny sight though. Perhaps a neighbors wifi if i get the usb tool thingy... but not sure I would have to ask around.

echoforever I reallyh know how you feel as my computer and my montor both did a meltdown first part of May. I mean the lines inside w ere actually melted and the capacitors inside my monitor had all split too.So my son rebuilt my desk top computer from scratch and bought me a new to me used led monitor which I do love like I did my old one. I was without a ccomputer at all for almost all of the month as my son was Working so had to bu ilt my computer on weekends.I hope your own computer woes can b fixed so you are back up and running well.To you it is not a small issue and it is not to me either as with out a healthy well running computer its hard to make any money or do anything on the world wide web here.

Yep you're right, without a "healthy" computer its quite hard to do much. You have gotten my point quite well. It does feel good to be back but still this heaviness in my thoughts and feelings is hard to bear.

Yup, I too had a bulky old style PC in college for awhile that I tried to do my homework on. I didn't do well with that. I nearly did throw that one out the window. It would have killed whomever it landed on, however.

You have already received some good tips on how to get your PC running faster. When it comes to your connection, it is worth it to do a cost-benefit analysis. Would paying for a faster connection enable you to make the money back to not only cover that difference in cost but actually benefit you (monetarily and otherwise) beyond that? I believe that the answer to that question is likely "yes." I've dealt with slow connections in recent memory for short periods of time, and they are incredibly frustrating. However, I would not deal with such a connection for an extended period of time. I rely too heavily on the internet in order to accomplish things; having a slow connection for any significant length of time simply is not an option for me.

Yes I agree that I could make back that money with a better connection but it isn't a possiblity currently. It may be in the future. You are smart not to deal with these slow inefficient connections for long. Not only does it not take up all of your time for smallest of tasks but for us who work online it is a must to get all of the productivity you require to make a profit.

Hello echo! I have a slow internet connection and it seems like it has been like this most of the time! I can't help but be annoyed. We are paying our monthly bill obediently and yet what they give is poor service? I had been complaining to the customer service of our internet provider and they give megood service for a few days. After few days, it will be this slow again. Sometimes, it makes me not to be online daily because of this. I am in my rough time too. I wish things will be better to us. Advance Happy New Year and Happy Lotting!

I am sorry to hear about your predicament and even worse that the company won't help you but only for a few days. That is the type of problem I would be mad about but with me it isn't possible to call for bad service, it is just dial up....

Oh my, I know that feeling of technology frustration. Technology definitely has its ups and downs and it can really be a debby downer sometimes. Do you have a slow conection because of your location? Is there a local library that you can go to to try and use the computer ther? I would also recommend to not be so dependent on earning money through places that don't provide a reasonable income. When you become so dependent and then things don't work out that could lead to alot of frustration because your expectations won't be met.

You make a valid point. If I'm dependant on the money and it doesn't come through then of course I'll be upset At least I know myLot is very dependant. I am depending only a little on the others now at least. I have some other means to pay bills now.... Yes the location is fully why I have a bad connection... there's not much I can do, currently but, I'm going to look into it.
