Again dreaming of tiny houses

I have long been fascinated by houses--both large and small. However, ever since I was a young child, I have love small spaces--charming cabins, cozy cottages, etc.
As an adult, I have thought about owning a home. That is my desire. It is my goal. It is the thing that I know I need, because I do not do well with rentals; I've had a bad string of rentals, and it has left me with a very bad taste in my mouth in regards to renting places. This most recent rental is no exception.
And, so, my thoughts have again drifted back to tiny homes. I look at the homes on Tumbleweed Tiny House Company's website, and I dream of owning one of those cute little places--whether it be one of the portable tiny homes or one of the charming cottages that is meant to be built on a foundation.
What is it that you are dreaming of these days? Do you own your own home, or are you like me and still dreaming of doing so? Or are you perfectly content as a tenant?

We bought a place (standard house) that seriously did not work out due to the townsfolk (in ways that would make for a good book), so we are back in the world of rentals now. I want to buy again, but I will have to be quite certain of the area the next time. That likely won't be for a while anyways given how much it took out of us (both emotionally and financially) with that house.

@RebeccasFarm Ah, maybe, I shall turn it into a (fiction) novel one of these days. It is a weird enough story that there likely would be an audience for it.

@wilsongoddard Yes the area can make such a difference. I can only imagine the story you could tell and I assure you, I would be the one to listen to it.
I know exactly what you are speaking of here.
And I am so sorry that house was not in a good place for you..terrible to lose it.

I have my own house-two-bed-room apartment.I bought it at a low price during the reform of the housing allocation system here.Even though it is 70 square metre in area or so,it is enough to house a family of three.Hope what you dream of will soon come true.

Your calculation is right.250-square feet! It sounds a bit small, but you can free yourself from renting a room from someone.

I just downloaded Tumbleweed model homes... i have a 20 sqm space in front of my house... and it would be great to build a small home there so we can put it for rent... that would be additional money for us... there is no tumbleweed like company here in my country... but their models can sure be a great help with designs... i just need to come up with the money... hopefully next year...

There are different companies that build such homes and various places to get plans to build one's own. I often go back to Tumbleweed, though, to take a look at what they have to offer... and to dream.
I would like to build, but I would need some help with such a project. I am willing to do such work, but I do not have all of the skills needed to successfully build a home. After all, I would actually be living in the thing; it might be good to be certain that the thing is not going to fall in on my head.

The best about tumbleweed houses is that they are DIY... they look easy but for sure they are complicated... and a skilled person still needs to be hired... here in my country... i can only imitate the floor plan but the materials to use will be entirely different... they should suit the weather, climate, and available manpower...

I am drawn to the tiny homes, because they are so cozy. Although, I think that my three cats may want to have a second one for their cat adventures.
I've been dreaming of owning my own house. The tiny homes can be more cost efficient and eco-friendly than their larger counterparts. They are definitely cheaper to heat and cool--things that I am reminded of as I look at our electric bills here.
Unfortunately, even though they can be rather inexpensive to build, that still takes money, time, energy and skill--or some extra money to have someone else either help or do it for you. To buy the portables, you get to skip everything except for the money--inexpensive in the grand scheme but difficult to come up with in one lump sum for many of us.

were also renting a house. like you, when i was a child i also dreaming of a beautiful house. even if it was a small or big. it doesn't matter how it is. the important for it. that you can make your own house, that anybody have their own.
from now on, i wanted to make my own house. i don't want to rent a house anymore, because the money that we pay for rent is can buy many food that i wanted. just like now we have a baby we can spend the money to buy a milk for our baby. but we need to budget it because were just renting a house

Yes, owning one's own home is generally cheaper than renting. I've added up how much we have spent during just the past couple of years on rentals, and it is almost enough to have bought a nice little place.

I am fascinated with these homes as well. It's the little things that make homes cozy and inviting. Bigger homes aren't always the place where everybody wants to be.
