Just lime to go back the time when I innocently (read unconsciously) asked myself this question. "Who had given anybody (bigger-country) the right to rule or govern another (read the whole world) and so it is justified that it must be their divine duty to police and protect the whole world?"
That's 20 years ago, a time reading a newspaper and or even listening to radio news seems to be a privileged for me and so many others like me, not to mention we do not know, see, touch a Cellphone or even heard a such things as INTERNET, IPOD, I-tech etc. In short, thirsty and deprived of so many information and reality.
Time had passed, yet I am compelled to ask the same question again. At times when MASS MEDIA and INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY is part of everyday living. I just realized, there was a change?, how we are easily deceived, manipulated or term it simply "PLAYED" - and we are not aware of it.
To whose advantage and benefit?...Why?...Everyone has the right to answer that, and each one of us is completely free to have our own answer. Thus, share it here!...What can you say?

"Philippines vs China - If war broke, Who is going to BENEFIT?" The answer is plain and simple "NOBODY" , these is a very dangerous scenario that might trigger WWIII!, It's not only the Philippines but it would drag Vietnam as well and some other Asean countries who have claims to the same territory, It would drag Japan who has a similar issue to the East and gradually involve the U.S. who has defense treaties with the Philippines and Japan and has similar interests. Having the 3 largest economies at war might trigger world financial collapse and not to mention the possibility of use of nuclear arms at their disposal, when the U.S. is involved there is a possibility that NATO would come join in, OMG! let's all pray that nobody would be crazy enough to start all these., Have we not learned our lessons from WWII? Or have we simply forgotten or fail to read our history books?

The Benefit is the Main reason for countrys to Start war.
In this Case i think its just about recources on a Small Island belonging to the phillipines
Which the Chinese goverment want to Claim.
Maybe its the Otter Way around.
Borders a Men-made barriers ,so they can just fail like anything Else!

I highly appreciated all your informative views. Well, in every war the so-called beneficiary is indeed the winner. They are eventually benefited on the resources left on such particular territory they are invaded. Damages are given knowing that there is a war occurred. A simple reason why there are lots of claimant on that small Island because of its richly natural resources - natural gas and oil that said has contained equivalent reserve of oil in Qatar. Trillions of barrels can be treasured from that small island as they said. Now, if that was the case, it cannot surprise to know that many neighboring countries are claiming for the said Island - and they are ready to gambled into war if necessary. Now therefore, was a certain country engaged to war if they know they cannot benefit afterwards? I think this will need ample time to ponder. Thank you for you healthy opinion lotters...

The ones that are going to benefit are those who produce weapons and anything that are needed in a war.
I just hope that this conflict will be resolved immediately.

I learned this when I watched the movie "Warlods", if I'm not mistaken.

I don't think this scenario will happen. But if it will indeed happen, then it won't be exclusively between China and the Philippines. Since we have a mutual defense treaty with the US and other countries, they will be indirectly involved. And since China is allied with other countries, they will also be indirectly involved. This is the reason why this scenario, in my opinion, will not happen.

hi,
we all know that China is bigger country rather to Philippines and they have many soldiers compare to Filipinos,we are thankful because no war between China and Philippines and it because of the United Nation interfere too.both of them will benefit if no war.

Thanks for your opinion asliah. Anyway, no country has the desire to engage war if it's not necessary. However, in the event that faction will become worst between the two countries, the form of settlement should be in a diplomatic way not in war. Peace is the best benefit either. We just hope that God will bestow his divine power to the negotiator of this issue that no war has been occur.

Who had given anybody (bigger-country) the right to rule or govern another (read the whole world) and so it is justified that it must be their divine duty to police and protect the whole world? I’ll try to answer this question. It is possible that some bigger nations will see it in their interest to centralize their resources and from an entity that can be a force on the global stage. Whether the said entity will a world police or superpower will be based on military and economy such as in the case of Europe, US and China. As a big entity, they can effectively protect their international interests, which may or may not be agreeable to other superpower in the world. .
I would agree that nobody gave them right but in times of trouble and uncertainly, those big entities step up for their interests. Any uncertainty on the matter is a threat to them and their interests. They may say that what they do or play is in the interest of other countries but it may also be based on a nation’s interests.
Does war benefit anybody? The winner of course in the short run. In the long run, no one really. There will some strained relationship if they was a return to the status quo.

Hello gilmegans,
I just saw your discussion as you had just left a response to another contributor.
Its an interesting situation, I had a look to see what I can find out about it from internet news sources and they said that ASEAN has been trying to resolve the issue, it will be interesting to see if they succeed, as their role in recent years has been to try and increase economic co-operation, which has been of benefit to the whole region.
So, though I can see why china would want this island hopefully a diplomatic solution is possible, as co-operation between neighbouring countries is far better than conflict.
(while here I am in the UK watching our government try to keep those who don't like the EU happy by promising a referendum.)

Hi francesca, thanks a lot for sharing your views relative to this issue. Well, China indeed fervently aimed to acquire such island (Scarborough Shoal) that is why they will established maritime forces and warship to closely watch an monitor the said area. In the same manner, our government itself (Philippines)vigorously monitored such claim where already named west Philippine sea. However, as the settlement is still on process, we just had hoped that diplomatic settlement is the center of its amicable resolution, and no war will exist because it's not only generate serious risk to all citizen but it greatly make massive destruction and devastation not only properties but such innocent lives as well.
