My younger brother scored 92% in his 8 standard final exams. He is really a genius guy. The thing which surprises me that he does not study for hours but still he gets good grades. My parents scold me a lot relating my result to my brother's. I am more towards the sports corner and i am really good at it. I played for my school and college teams and really put up a good show there but i know education in necessary. I do try hard to study for hours but it just doesn't happens. Any suggestions?

I think the 8th standard is quite a younger age to judge him, because sometimes parents get the results good and then they start having bigger expectations from them and the child might get under the pressure. It is important to understand the reason behind his good scores and then they have to keep it with him throughout his life.
There is always some reason behind anything good or bad. Find out the reason behind his success and parents should always give him the same reason to keep scoring good in everything in his life.
You have sports as your passion, so you should spend more time in it and I am sure that you will also do good in other parts of life also. I think that when I start doing something which I like the most, I will start getting happy and when one is in good mind state everything happens for good. So you keep doing what you like.

Wow!! congratulation to your brother he is rally a genius but to score marks it's not necessary to study for long hours. If you able to understand the fact you can write it easily in exam. That's the key of scoring good marks in exam...

I know sometime we spend much time for study by we may not get high grade..the main problem in here is if we understand clearly the problem and can solve it then even it is changed in any form, we can solve it easily.
When i was in high school, i didn't spend much time for math, physics but i always got high grades for it since i was very interested with it, i did understand lessons on the class and don't need to spend much time for it when i go home.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well that is really a great news and i know your parents must be happy for him. To be very honest, scoring marks never depends on how many hours u study but it depends on how well u have understood the concepts. It will then help u in the exams very much.
Besides i can understand your situation and i think u should talk to your parents regarding your passion and convince them that like your younger brother u can also shine in the sports u like to play.
What say?

I did requested them a lot, even my school and college teachers told them that he can really glitter in the field of cricket but my parents refused every time. They say cricketers do not have a secure future. Once they are dropped it's impossible for them to make a come back. If you have a good educational record then you secure your future and live a happy life. That's what my parents think.

I should admit your brother do has the gift for studies.Do not get frustrated because everyone has his/her own speciality.I am sure that you are better at sports than your brother.Your parents just want you to catch up with your brother in studies, they think of you too much.See,they don't show partiality to your brother, from another point of view, they concerns you, too. You should be happy.I would like to share you with my idea, study hard and play hard.As you are the student now and your main task is to study well, when you finish your homework carefully, you can still play the football, right?
Cheer up,you are also excellent!

Okay, a 92% is great, and that's great for his final exams. I would celebrate that, but remember that the next quarter or semester (depends on what school, college, university, or institution you attend), and if he wants to get to the next level he has to keep that up, and that can be hard for people who are really smart because they might start to get bored or feel less challenged after a while.

Hi!
Congratulations to your brother for getting such high percentage and to you for being good at sports.
Why not implement the mylot style in your studies friend? myLot pays us for doing 'quality' discussions and comments, right? It's the same in studies too. It's not how much hours you sit to study..it's all about how much quality contents you study in whatever hours you decide to put for your study time.
Also intellect differs with individual, maybe your brother has more IQ than you so he needs less hours to study but it might be possible that to study the same thing you may need more hours. This is just an example.
I hope you understand what i am trying to convey. Happy Mylotting.

God created every man unique one, some of us are so intelligent, and others are so much dull. So dont compare yourself with your brother. He is very good in his study, and you are very good in sport. Dont take it on your heart. Keep studying and also participate in sports, go ahead...

You get this problem often occurring in my country. I am not good at study too, and i know what your feeling. My mom said that i am not proper to study, and i do honest to say that good scores does mean a good future. The high scores just mean you show well in the education, but for career the high scores just one point and other important is the skill of society and profession. For example, my parents, my mom is top student and she as the high scores attain to Beijing to get college. My papa often escape the class and he did not finish the college. If the good marks can account for one thing, my mom's salary will higher than my papa's. So, the marks really can not represent everything. If you want a explain for this situation, you can try to translate the good marks means good memory.
