I definitely can understand what this is like. Debt is such a huge burden, especially if you have limited cash flow to pay it off. I am trying to pay off credit card debt by earning more money and saving more instead of spending but I have almost 3 grand in debt, which is pretty stressful. There's not a whole lot that you can do with your friend who is stressed out about debt, except maybe help them create a plan to pay it off. It's not as though you can pay it off for them. But yes, I agree that debt is very stressful, but once you are out of debt - it is like a weight has literally been lifted off of your shoulders!

Our family is dealing with a mountain of debt right now. Before, we never had such a problem because we always made enough to take care of bills, and save money. We never splurged on anything. The main problem we are facing is that our jobs have cut back drastically to the point were we are losing stuff. Myself, I have filed for unemployment twice in five years, when the job market tanked after burning through savings. Right now, we are just putting what we have together to help each other out, while we try to adapt to our constantly changing situation (it's progressively getting worse)

Debt hits all all without mercy. The best thing for us is to strive to be role models on how we live our life debt free. Action speaks louder than words.
I would rather learn from one who is debt free than to pay hundreds or thousands to a motivational speaker.

I also have some debts, but I'm planning to pay them one at a time. Borrowing money is not a good habit. Once you get yourself to doing the same thing over and over again, you'll definitely end up ruining your whole life.

I really couldn't imagine any member of my family to be in such predicament coz we try not to spend more than we can afford. But if it something that happened to us, maybe we would be giving up some stuff that could somehow help in paying off the the debt.

I am lucky that our family doesn't have any more debts but you know even things like paying bills is a struggle for a lot of people here. They put up the bills but people don't get pay rises or more money to be able to afford to pay them which is really really sad. Our government said "oh don't worry we will assist you" and gave around $160 once, wasn't even enough to cover a gas bill!

I think that if you just give your family member a chance to talk about their feelings that is good. Sometimes someone in the family is not the best person to talk to. Maybe they could go talk to someone outside the family to get an outside perspective.

let them solve it unless they ask your help, you can help or let them borrow money.
