What is your traditional Christmas meal and when do you eat?

My preference for a traditional Chrismas meal is to have a gigantic breakfast buffet after the kids have finished opening their presents. They are going to be too busy with the new toys to stop to eat, so I like to have small finger foods for them to munch on. I like to have warm cinnamon rolls, fresh fruits, eggs, bacon, and sausage and lots of hot coffee. After a big brunch, then I like to just have different things to snack on for the rest of the day. Do you have traditional foods that you have on Christmas? Do you have a big lunch, big family dinner?

Yum. I like your Chrismas dinners! I like pineapple juice mixed with koolaid and orange juice, but not just by itself. It seems too sweet, I guess. I love fresh fruits and vegetables and usually eat them daily. That means the turkey or ham dinner that is usally Christmas dinner is enough of a treat.

In my family we open the presents on Christmas eve. At it`s Summer in my country, the children can have all night to play outside with their new toys. We have a Christmas Eve diner after presents are opened. Children eat little so we have lots of appetizers things for the children to grab while they play. THey don`t mess much as they are eating in the garden. I`m in charge of the food this year although diner is going to be at my daughter`s house. I`m making two kinds of cold cuts with salads and I bought a cake.

Christmas in summer sounds very unusual to me. The weather guys are talking tons of snow and sleet and just flat out bad winter weather here starting at midnight. I just hope the electricity stays on because I want to play on the computer! The kids will be loud and play and fight all day, I'm sure. Hopefully I'll find a quiet place to hide out for a few hours respite!

MY favorite meal USED to be a buffet style meal...2 meats, 3 veges, 2 potato sides, 2 breads, 2 salads and ton of cookies! But that was "back in the day" (last one 8 years ago!)
Now...for Christmas tomorrow...it will be spaghetti (requested by my daughter!) and a salad and no cookies (requested by my daughter...she is one of those that think cookies kill you!) But since it is just us three (her daughter too), I have no ambition to cook anything any bigger and since that is what she asked for... why do anything else!!!!

You know, my philosophy is that two days of each year are splurge days and eating 'forbidden' foods on those days will probably not kill anyone! I allow myself those two days for food splurges and New Year's celebration for drinking more than just my usual one shot drink. I'll be 60 very soon, and I'm very healthy, very happy, and expect to live a very long time.
