My son got a divorce this fall and has met a new gal. She is really nice and has three kids. One lives with her....the other two with their dad in Wisconsin. I have never met them. It was a challenge to shop for their Christmas gifts as I don't know anything about them. One is 11, one is 7 and one is two. The two year old I have met a few times and he already comes to me and hugs me etc. I am excited to spend the day with them and get to know them. Have you ever had to shop for someone you have never met? I have several little gifts for them and did a theme kind of gift. I gave everyone a gift card to Walmart so they can pick out their own gift, and a gift card to McDonalds so they can all go out to eat after shopping. Besides that I got them all good gloves, and some candy things of course....What is your most challenging gift you have bought?

No I haven't had this kind of challenge but you certainly solved it magnificently. I really hope the visit turns out well. Let us know how it went

Awww, that's so sweet Jill. Do they call you grandma? I love the thought that the little one comes and gives you a big hug..that's so cute.
I can imagine how exciting this is and what a challenge at the same time buying the gifts. I think you did a great job and the gifts sound perfect!
There's been a couple of times when it's been hard finding a particular item for someone. I do remember one time though my grandson, when he was little, wanted a specific card from one of the games he played at that time. No one had it and he told me I'd never find it because it was so scarce. Well, scarce it was, but I did find it after making a hundred phone calls, haha! He was really surprised that Christmas!

Well done, I hope that you all have fun together and have lots of laughs.
In the past i have found it diffcult ot buy for my youngest son as he is only two years younger than his brother and although he wanted the same stuff as his brother we wanted ot buy him something different as his older brother didn't like him having the same toys as him

I still have not met my newest nephew, who was born in March. I will not be buying him a present. Like with his 2 brothers,3 and 6, and my two youngest neices,2 and 15 will be getting money from me! I will be giving them five dollars each. This way I don't have to worry about buying them gifts and the money goes into their college funds!

This Christmas I had the challenge of putting gifts together for 9 kids ranging in age from 3 to 15. Big bags ofcandy were a big success!!!

I hope you all have a good time.
I don't recall ever getting a gift for someone I didn't know, but kids are generally easy to please. They'll probably love the gift cards.
This year the most challenging gift I had to buy was for my co-worker. My old bank does a secret Santa every year, and I was still a part of it as I only left that bank in the beginning of December. It's oddly really hard to buy for co-workers that you don't really know too well. I mean it's not like we can chat all the time at the bank, you know.

My most challenging gift was for some friends my husband made while on business. They live in the Black Hills. They had invited us to stay with them over New Years and were wonderful people. They still had obligations and we were told to "make ourselves at home" while they were away. These people are looooooaddddded$$$$$$$$$. What to get them for a thank you gift was my biggest challenge.
I make very cool gel candles. They both ride Harleys and go to Sturgis every year. It took two years to find the Harley and "black top". I just sent their gift a couple of weeks ago and they were thrilled. They have everything and what they don't they can buy! He brought it to his office where his customers come.
On the other hand I met this young man who recently combined households with his girlfriend and the couple were having problems with their land lord (slum lord) and her divorce so she can get remarried, and getting clothes for her growing boys. I gave them the gift of never feeling like a victim ever again. I gave them knowledge and where to find help. The last thing these two needed was more stuff in their three bedroom apartment.
I am now raking in the thank you's, how cools, and the story of how I lifted the weight of the world off peoples shoulders.
First I would eliminate anything they don't need. Not knowing them I think you made a wise choice. I would tell them if I knew you better I would have given you something that fits you better.
This is enough for now.
Oh, and if you're ever invited to go to a gag gift party, get a bottle of MD 20/20 and present it in the brown paper bag you got it in. No bow or ribbon!
Spread cheer, not stuff!

I have a twelve-year-old daughter and three older boys, whenever I went to the market to buy clothes for them, the boys' clothes would be bought with ease, but for the girl it is either oversize or undersized, unless I dedicate a whole day for her clothing.

I haven't met my inlaws before too. And few days I had to prepare for the flight to stay with my hubby here. I'm quite confuse what ti give them coz u haven't met them personally just pics. Then I decided to buy them a native delicacy from my country (a sweet dessert). And I'm so happy they like it. :)
