Ever since I've returned from my trip to Texas mid-November, I have been ON again OFF again sick -- with different types of colds. I am finally getting sick for the THIRD time in 5 weeks, and now I am beginning to wonder what is going on with me. I don't have health or medical insurance, of course, so I am using this discussion as a way to contemplate things. I wouldn't go in the doctors for a head cold, either, but I normally have a GREAT immune system and only get colds once or twice per year, if even that. Now it seems as though I am getting sick all the time. And I literally am! The weird thing is I have been eating very very good --- taking a multi-vitamin, eating tons of apples and oranges, drinking tons of water, and staying away from coffee (and drinking herbal tea) instead. Can eating BETTER cause your immune system to go down hill? Also, I quit smoking 7 weeks ago. Would quitting smoking have anything to do with the DECLINE in my immune system's efficiancy?

Don't stress it out. Also, give your body enough rest. Refrain from going out too much for the time being. I remember this happening to me last July (rainiest month of the year). I wouldn't get better because I had to go out to work. Eventually, I had a long weekend to rest and I did not get out of the house and ate healthily. I got better afterwards. I'm not sure if it's the smoking too because the only side effect I know when you quit is that you gain weight. Hope you get better. :)

Its probably the cause of sudden climate change, your body will readjust in a few weeks.

Last year, I have cold every month. Now I changed the living place and keep my body in a good condition for more than 6 month. I think to me, having touch with chemicals make my body not health. And I have to wear more clothes to keep my body warm. Now with a better working and living condition, I am much better now.

No, a healthy diet would not cause you to get sick, nor would stopping smoking. What quitting smoking has likely done, though, is remove one of your methods of coping with stress. You also mentioned that you are working full-time and that you just wrapped up the semester. You likely have some other sources of stress in your life as well. When all of these things are combined, you are likely to be worn down and open to getting sick more frequently. Get some rest. Take some echinacea. Add some garlic and other immune-boosting foods to your diet. Find another outlet for stress such as meditation or yoga. If you are still getting sick frequently in another month or so even after doing these things, it is time to go see a doctor--insurance or not.

Don't think too much my friend. Quit smoking is great and it won't decline your immune sys. Everyone has a "immune cycle"(I don't know the real name) which means sometimes your immune system is strong but sometimes it is weaker than normal. You said that you got sick too often in recent weeks. This may caused by staying up late or some other bad habits. Keep drinking enough water, eat healthy, exercise, BE OPTIMISM!! These tips will help you keeping the doctor away. Get better soon! Merry Christmas!

A normal person will not get sick 3 times in 5 weeks. And I noted your eating habbits are okay and good thing is you have quit smoking. I will say you should consult a doctor because things not looking normal.

Over-fatigue can also cause one to be ill. I think you need to slow down and take a good rest to heal your body. You already have everything you need to take except rest. So take some time out from work and have some good bed rest.
