I just watched in the news that the Health Department is making some warnings to parents to avoid buying pregnant dolls as gifts to their kids. This will give negative impression to kids abiiut pregnancy as per experts claimed. When I heard about this news, I was really surprised that pregnant dolls exists. Second, why did the manufacturer did such kid of dolls wherein kids doesn't know things about pregnancy. what are the main purpose of doing such toys? What are your thoughts about this mylotters? Good day!

I don't see anything wrong with pregnant barbie dolls.Parents need to start being parents and stop blaming video games tv shows and toys for the way their child turns out.I would let my child play with one.

I think it is still free to talk about it with the kids. Just be careful on the word you are going to use. It should be suitable for their ages so they can easily understood what you are talking about.

I think it really depends on how the parents will teach and explain the kids about the pregnant dolls. I think some that reacts violently about the said toys are just over-reacting on the issue.

Right.Alot of parents are scared to talk to their kids about those type of things, they go out and get the information from friends and it's just all downhill from there.

I am totally against this pregnant doll thing...children should not be exposed to any thing other than pencils and crayons...people who brought this item in the country should be penalized...

I hadn't heard about that but not surprised. Last year or so it was a "nursing" baby that was in the hot seat...and teaching the little girls to "nurse" their baby..literally. Parents, and rightly so, went bazerk over this one and really hit the manufacture hard about it not being acceptable. You dont' have to teach little girls about how to be a mother, or take care of a baby or deal with any of that. They are little girls, they don't need to know about all that. They should be able to just play with their dolls...and left alone with the rest until they are older. I think society these days is stealing kids childhoods with toys these days. THey don't have to do anything but press buttons. Sad... they don't know what they are missing. I play board games with my grand kids and they love it! But...they only do that at my house, once gone, they are back to pressing buttons!

Right, they must enjoy the dolls as dolls and not teaching them to nurse the kids with their own. For me such toys will make enjoyment for the kids but it is more enjoyable for kids to have toys and develop their mind at the same time. Educational toys are much better.

Wow I was surprised to know that there are pregnant dolls. I have not seen in one in the malls. I am not sure if kids will be interested about this but I guess the idea of pregnancy will make them curious. I think they should not manufacture this kind of toys.

I did not see this one too. I think it can be given to kids but parents should have a good focus on this one. They should teach the kids more of the positive side of having this kind of dolls. I know that there are positive effect on the kids but I am not sure what it is.

I guess manufacturers does this one to have a positive effect on kids and not a bad one. Whatever, the purpose of the manufacturer, I hope it will be the good one to be absorbed by the kids.

I personally don't think the dolls have anything to do with girls getting pregnant...I think bad parenting has a LOT to do with young girls getting pregnant. My children will have it instilled in their heads that pregnancy is hard, a child is expensive and unless you have the means to take care of a child you should not get pregnant. I am also going to teach them as they get older that school and a career are the most important things to strive for, then comes the family once you can afford to care for a child.

I think it too. I think proper upbringing of the kids is one factor. Like most kids I knew getting pregnant at eary age, one reason is their parents attitude and some wants to escape from their family.

I agree with you jeanneyvonne. Even there are many things like pregnant dolls in the market, still parents must teach their kids about this matter. It is just simple explanation to them. However, there are some difficulties like what are the language to use in teaching their kids.

I would not get those for my daughter because I just don't think that it would be something that she should be learning from a doll. I would talk to her about it, but a doll seems a little much.

Just like yours, parent must be the one to think what are good for their kids. When it comes to toys, they should be the one to choose what they might need for their development. In my case, we used to get educational or learning toys. This will really help them develop their mind.

Even if I had a daughter, I would not buy a pregnant dolls for her. Even if I tried to explain to her, she would not understand it since she was so little. And actually I even don't know how to explain it better to her. I don't understand why the doll manufacturers will be so creative and make these pregnant dolls. Do they think this will be a good market? I doubt to it.

I think they are bringing uniqueness in the market. They tried to modify the traditional dolls. In fact, if none will buy such items, they will stop manufacturing those toys. Like I always keep in mind, even the kids want such toys, it is still the parents to say yes or no. I think if parents refuses, they should explain to their kids properly why they doesn't want them to have one.

I had never heard of pregnant dolls before I read this discussion. Though I can't see how they would help to cause teenage pregnancy. In my opinion the thing that will reduce teenage pregnancy is education and these dolls can help with this. They also give realistic dolls that have the similar care requirements as real babies to Teenagers to teach them the realities of parenthood.Showing them that it is a lot harder than they imagine it is. In my opinion pregnant dolls could be no different to this.

You got a good point there. The manufacturer or the one that raises the idea of pregnant dolls might not intentionally let the kids into teenage pregnancy but they might have other reasons for the good of the kids. One of them might be reducing the teenage pregnancy because the dolls might be use to think the kids on how it is really hard to commit into such situation at early age. Furthermore, this might also give the young parents on how to take care of their kids inside the womb.

There is nothing wrong if the parents would guide them and explain to them nicely about why such doll exist. I don't think a very young kid would think of getting herself pregnant just because of having a pregnant doll. Coz even without dolls, kids would see pregnant ladies in the street and in TV/movies.

I agree with you. Perhaps in this case they can have knowledge on how they are formed and how parents took care of them even when they are inside the womb. I think parents still have the sole responsibility in this matter. They are the one that will explain them what is the doll all about.

There are lots of toys in the market maybe I will not choose those pregnant dolls to give as a present for my niece.. instead I will choose something educational.. pregnant dolls may leave a bad impression on kids they might think that it is fine being pregnant.. in their young age they are easily confused and influence by what they see so for me I don't agree giving a pregnant doll on kids..

Another good point. Like what you are thinking, they might give bad impression to kids, so you will opt for educational toys. In the end, it was still the adults responsibility if they are going to give such toys to kids as gifts. I like your thinking that there are other toys out there and some are really educational. Like mine, we used to buy educational toys like puzzles, books and shape sorter for our son. Now he used to know the basics being thought to pre-schools at the age of 2 like alphabet, colors, numbers, shapes etc.

the trend of today's world about good moral values is going downhill and on top of that greed and ignorance are the main reasons

I agree with you, most untoward cases resulted for ignorance. On the other hand even those educated persons tends to commit into such situation because of being greedy.

Unfortunately everyone is engaged in business and there is no ethics in business, why the companies are manufacturing this type of dolls? Unfortunately gaining profit by hook or crook are their motto.

You have a point, business is business and one of their concern is to gain more earnings. One is by making unqiue toys like the pregnant dolls. Of course many will get curious about this doll and will have a reason to purchase if because of curiosity. In this manner, manufacturer will really earn a lot. I think what ever the manufacturer's reason of creating this doll, it is the parents who will have the final say.

I agree with you.Parents should avoid buying pregnant toys for kids and I do believe that it may have negative impact on kids. You might have experienced that kids are very exploratory in nature and they always try to know what they are playing with or what they is seeing around them and always want to know in detail about that.I really wonder why some toy manufacturing companies are making such type of toy however I haven't seen pregnant toys.

I think parents might buy the said toys but they should be able to teach and explain to their kids about the being pregnant of the dolls. If they cannot explain in proper manner, that will be the time that parents should really think twice.

Lately I have seen slot if uproar about these dolls, they have been around years. I had one as a child, I don't see a problem with it. I would happily let my children have one. Pregnancy Oscar beautiful natural part of life so why shouldn't children experience it through play. Especially if the Childs mum is pregnant it will show the child what's happening.

That maybe one of the positive impact on having such toys. In the end it is the parents responsibility on how are going to teach their kids about it.

Pregnant dolls? I have never seen them, I am sure they look cute. However, I wouldn't buy one for the kid in the house. Kids might want to follow the doll and might consider it as the norm. I will still go for the traditional doll.

You got a good point that is one of the things that experts are worrying about. However, I think it really still depends on the parents. They should teach their kids properly about pregnancy.

I don't think it is such a big deal. They must have manufactured it because of it's uniqueness and it would make kids curious. Maybe they want to play with their dolls and have one of them give birth or something. It will stimulate children's imagination. Not sure if it's good or bad.

I think it depends on how they handle with their kids about the said toys. They should be able to explain to their kids and teach them why it gets pregnant. According to some psychologists, it can have a negative impact on kids, but I think they are just over-reacting abou tthe issue.
