I am sure everyone is expecting a Khuay story, but this time it isn't his turn. I guess I should start from the beginning. I bought a wonderful vintage 1960's-70's era shag hippy coat for making teddy bears and other animals. Of course the first thing I do is to fill the bath tub with water and hand wash the coat (the acrylic ones only!). I put them in the tub and soak them for about an hour so that any chemicals from dry cleaning, little creepy crawlies drown, and any residual odors are removed. The cats are pretty good about not hopping in the tub during the soak. They hear the water running and know that either I am taking a bath or washing a coat. The coat had been in the tub for about half an hour and I went in to use the toilet, I was followed by my tiny little old lady, Murphy. She hadn't been having a good day to begin with. She fell off the counter earlier in the day, dumped a bowl of cream on herself, tripped over a pair of my shoes, and ran head first into a door. Well this was no exception! I had barely sat down on the toilet when Murphy decided that she wanted a drink of water and hopped up on the side of the tub. She found the tub full of water but it was too late, she lost her footing and fell into the tub!!! I hurriedly shut the door before she could race out of the bathroom and onto my bed...I grabbed a towel and managed to grab her before she got too far out of the tub and dried her off the best I could. I have to admit that Murphy is as coordinated as her Mom and can't walk a narrow area to save her life. I can't walk on a balance beam, and Murphy can't walk on the edge of a tub! Are your animals as coordinated as mine? If they are will you share their tails?

Oh dear, is Murphy getting on in years? Is she losing eyesight? What exactly is causing her to trip over shoes? I mean, I can see slipping off a bathtub edge, but cats don't normally trip over shoes! I'm always surprised by which of my cats are coordinated. I mean, with Flower's eyes not being quite right, you wouldn't expect her to be able to easily judge distances, but she can land a jump like a gold metal winner!

Murphy is almost 19 years old! You can tell that her eyesight isn't quite right as she doesn't just jump up on the counter anymore. She has to measure and remeasure the distance in her mind before she even attempts the jump. Then she doesn't always make it up on the counter. Of course at age 19, she has earned the right to not always make the jumps. Of course most of the time I lift her up on the counter or where ever she is trying to jump. When you figure she is such a tiny little girl...she weighs a maximum of 4 pounds and stands about 6 inches at the shoulder there is a lot of things that she is limited in doing. In fact I had changed things around in my work room last night and realized that the cats use the bookcase that I eliminated to get to their food dishes. I have to change it back!!! Oh well, the cats are more important by a long shot. My little girl is now sound asleep on the bed...she didn't even notice the telephone repairman coming in and out of the house. There are times I swear she could sleep through a bombing! Merry Christmas ElicBxn. You never did reply to my offer. I have an extra election button (which are highly collectible) that I wanted to send you. If you would like it PM me so I can send it to you.

Yeah, Sassy at the end wasn't the best at any kind of activity, poor old thing. I've sent you a PM, go look, I sent one before, but you didn't seem to have gotten it! (If you send your phone # I could even call since I've got "free" long distance! - unless you are like so many with only a cell phone.)

Poor kitty! My cats say that they are quite coordinated. When they miss anything, it is done purposely--and with great style. My boy especially means to do that. As for cat tales... Yesterday, I'd mopped down the floors, but I had not yet emptied the bucket. I'd gotten distracted by other things. Next thing I know, the middle cat was dipping a paw in and helping herself to a drink. *Sigh* My cats...

I discovered Khuay having a "holiday toddy" from the toilet! He usually doesn't drink from the toilet and the water bucket was in the tub where it usually is. No telling what goes on in their minds! Let's face it, plain unflavored water gets boring after awhile! Nothing like mop or toilet water for a touch more taste! It has been so much fun hearing the tails from other cat owners...you can tell true animal lovers as they focus on their furry babies and share the wonderful things that the kids do during their days. Right now everyone is taking a nap because I had a ton of excitement with the telephone repairman here fixing my phone. The dogs had a wonderful time barking at the man and protecting the house and their human. The cats were busy supervising the man's work on the installation of a new line. So, after all that activity they are BUSHED! Although CD the mini dachshund is still muttering under his breath...and that's after the repairman has been gone for nearly 45 minutes! Have a Merry Christmas and hug all your furry children for me and my brood!

My old guy, Tiger is like that. It really is not funny to see him jump to the lid of the toilet and then to try to jump to the counter and fall. He quit jumping so much when he started falling off of everything. He even got a broken rib in the deal. He mostly sleeps right now.

Poor Murphy, I wonder if she'll ever jump up on the bathtub again. As for my girls, they have their moments. For example Ciara, the long hair dog, when her fur on her paws grow, they become slippery on the floor. Last night her poor feet just kept slipping out from under her and since I was gone today, I will have to trim her fur tomorrow so she doesn't slip as easily. Penny, on the other hand, her coordination gets messed up when her hyperness takes over. Like one time when I had her with me, off leash, to check the mail, she saw a squirrel. Of course she HAD to chase it, so she ran right to the tree it jumped off of and instead of climbing back on the tree, the squirrel, (I swear the squirrels around here live to torment the dogs)took off to another tree. So here is Penny, running to a tree, and when the squirrel took off in the other direction, Penny tried to turn and run at the same time... it didn't work, she slid on her side, but her feet were still going so when she got back up, she took off after that squirrel. Now that is one of a few times I really should have had my camera on and rolling....

Lol! Hearing the adventures of your cats is one of the things I really did miss about Mylot. Poor Murphy! My Bella hasn't pulled any stunts like that since she was a kitten. Every now and then she'll run into the door if she's chasing something and not paying attention, but that's about the extent of it. Thanks for sharing!
