Yes, I noticed that article on CNN several days ago and was appalled. Those police should go to prison!!
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the police however I do think that they need to focus on more important things then busting people for smoking or selling cannabis!

Yeah, fortunately I haven't had the privilege of dealing with a crooked cop, but I understand how they roll, and they think they have all the right and power in the world that they can't and won't be stopped.....I wish I could change their attitudes...but how??

I do not opine on whole system for a mishapps of its some member. Police is friend of innocent citizen and protector of our civil life, crime and fear for criminals. Sometime police become violent but against order of state and to perform its duty. Sometime police taking bribe in poor countries where other high officers are soaking money from state and political leaders are too! Though police is our proud and our collaborator in our social peace keeping criminals away.

Well, that's what we ideally want, yes....but as far as I've seen the police seem to incite more fear in citizens than the criminals do. The chance of being attacked, a victim of theft or some other violent crime is extremely low, then why do fear these things immensely? Is the reason we supposedly fear these things greatly is because they manipulate us to think that the problem is worse than it is? I think that police just seem to make poverty worse by targeting the poor, thus making the likelihood of a violent crime that much more likely to occur....

Some policemen live to their duty but some forget what they are for to protect, save and give security.

you're right, maybe they have all forgotten what they have been privileged with....to provide a sense of security for the people of the community, but for some reason, they make fear worse....maybe it's just a part of having a figure of power in the community?

I respect most of them..and think these days its a really tough job...
I wanted to be a cop..
At bestw their role ought to be to keep the peace...peace keepers...
and they ought to only confront those who are disturbing the peace..
I don't feel happy about the new trend to fear all..eachother..distrust...the so called Patriot act...
its not patriotic to see each other as spys and lawbreakers..
this countly was supposed to be founded on freedom of expression and worship and all taht...
just dont disturb the peace...
thanks for asking! you are cute Keep austin cool girl! ps chek out the pic I took in santa fe..cool huh?

Yeah man, GREAT pic!! I like your post--thanks! I wanted to be a cop myself several years ago, along with potentially being a politician or maybe a lawyer...but then I realized to myself...there's too much corruption ingrained into the system, and only a few decent ones wouldn't make much of a difference...sad, but true. I think that the peace can be kept if we had more control on the local level and didn't have upper level influence, such as great acts like the patriot act......which I believe is the greatest invasion of privacy and rights in our lifetime, so unfortunate. I'll keep austin cool, thanks man.

Some can be careless, yes, but why do you think they act the way that they do? Maybe they have too much power? Or maybe they're not happy with their jobs? It takes a great deal of effort to become a police officer, and most know that the pay isn't that great...so why do they become officers and abuse the position they've been privileged with?

Yes, they are supposed to do a good job--that's why our tax dollars pay them, right? Well, some cops are corrupt, maybe that's because the way the system is set up for them, or maybe it's because when any man comes into power, that power is more likely to be abused in the public sector rather than in the private sector. What if we didnt have a public safety agency and had only private agencies that took control on real crimes that occur like theft and murders? Would it be a better world, or would things be worse?

HI BUDDY. POLICE IS GREAT BUY NOT ALL POLICEMEN BECAUSE SOME ARE CURRUPTED AND THEY ALWAYS RECKON OF BRIBE. SOME POLICEMEN ARE MENTALLY DISTURBED DUE TO UNLIMITED TIMING OF THEIR WORK. THEY WORK FOR 24 HOURS AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO MEET THEIR FAMILY EVEN ONCE IN WEEK OR IN A MONTH.

Yes, being a cop can be hard...I know that, but it's not really right for them to be budding in to people's business, especially when we think that we have the freedom and right to choose what we do with our lives. I believe that we could all live in a happier society if we can actually concentrate on real issues and real problems rather than wasting our time on energy on moot points.
