Most of the time I fall a sleep with my glasses on. I have a routine of falling a sleep in my recline first. Then when I wake up I get up take off my glasses then go to bed and sleep in my bed for awhile. I could take my glasses off before I try to sleep but this is the routine I stick with.

I was taught two very important things about my glasses since I have worn them since I was 8 years old. The first thing was to never sleep in them, not even for a nap since they can get bent or broken. It's not fun to have glasses that do not fit! The other thing is to never lay them on a surface that is likely to be stepped on or sat on!

Hi surekharathi, i wear spectacles...but i never wear it to sleep.
Normally before we go to sleep, surely we will take off whatever thing on us like hairband, hair ribbon, spectacles, earrings and so on. It will be uncomfortable to wear something that disturbs your sleep, right?
Well, when we sleep, we don't look anywhere. So, surely we will take off our spectacles. There is a reason for some people who wears it to sleep. For example, people who has long sighted problem. Whenever they read newspapers, books or magazine, they need their spectacles on. However, some may read till they fall asleep unknowingly. So, that is why they sleep wearing their spectacles...not on purpose.

I always remove my spectacles before sleeping; in fact I can't remember a time when I've not done this. I like to read at night; and then after reading for a time, I put my book down, with my glasses next to it, or near it, and then try and sleep. When I wake up in the morning, one of the first things I do is put my specs on. When I was younger, even though I needed glasses, I very often didn't wear them. For example, when I was going out at night, I'd never wear my glasses. I guess I got used to not seeing much. But now I'm older, I prefer to see...I'm obviously not so vain. I wear my glasses most of the day. I bought them nearly 13 years ago; they were very expensive, but I had some money to afford them (I couldn't today); I've had them repaired several times, but one of the nose clips is missing: I think it just wore out and dropped off. One of these days, I'd like to buy a new pair. But I just can't afford them for now.

Hi
I dont have spects. I have seen people who sleep by keeping spects on their head and they forget that and search for them in the house. Some even sleep and only realize it after few hours.

I have myopic eyes, I have worn glasses since I was thirteen, at that time , I never forgot to remove them before sleeping . But when I began to work, I began to wear contact lenses, sometimes I watched TV in bed, when I felt really tired, I fell alsleep, without moving my contact lenses, I didn't realize it until the next morning , then I felt my eyes were dry, uncomfortable. It's really not good for my eyes.

Ohhh God try to remove the glass because may be break and unnecessary expense or money will spend. If contact lenses then no problem because it is in eyes. But I think this is also harmful for eyes if no remove at night time.

If I wear my eyeglasses rather than the contacts, then I probably would take them off because even if I fell asleep wearing them, the discomfort for lying on them would awaken me! I wear contacts and this means that I can sleep in them or choose to take them out. I prefer to remove them because when I do fall asleep in them it seems that my eyes become very, very dry and uncomfortable.

I used to occasionally fall asleep with my glasses on. I have grand mal seizures sometimes and in the past I've fallen on my glasses and broken them during a seizure. Since, I've purchased extremely sturdy frames and lenses that won't break if I happen to fall on them. So falling asleep in them is nothing! However, sleeping with glaasses on and rolling over is painful! I always would wake up with indentations on my face from my glasses. I don't do this anymore. I can't see close up with my glasses on, so when I do my bedtime reading or computing my glasses are already off.

It will be harmful to the eyes if sleeping with the spectacles.I wear framed glass instead of wearing the spectacles. But sometimes I wear spectacles in special cases, but I remove it from my eyes as soon as I come back home.So we should form a good habit of wearing that.

I also do the same sometimes unknowingly or when I really got very tired. But its not a very good practice as we completely lose our consciousness while falling asleep. While sleeping unknowingly it may get pressed and glass pieces may enter into the eyes causing harm to our most delicate and valuable organ.Never take chance as it may make you blind.

I don't wear my glasses to sleep. I think I'd bend them and they wouldn't fit as well (my glasses would be very difficult to break). I don't watch tv or do things that would cause me to drift off to sleep in the evening, so I haven't accidentally fallen asleep in a long time.

Hi!
I remove my glasses before I go to sleep.
Even if I need not move much while lying, I keep the glass-case near my pillow and safely put the glasses in the case before falling asleep.

Surekha, there had been a few times that my mother liked to wear her spectacles until she went to sleep. She realized that she is still wearing her spectacles only the next morning. Because of that, her spectacles easily loose in the leg and she had to bring them often for adjustment. I always tried my best to advised her to remember to take off her spectacles before going to bed.

hi surekharathi,
some people said it was not a habit nor by mistake that they wear spectacles to sleep. they claim that the reason they wear spectacles to sleep is because they afraid they may dream of themselves driving a car or riding a motorcycle and would ended up crashed in road accident because they were unable to see the road clearly.
do you believe this?

I always fall asleep with my glasses on. I watch TV at night, that puts me to sleep. And I always forget to remove them. But I have two sets now. An older pair that I wear when I go to bed and the new pair I wear when I get up. That way if the older ones break, I patch them up and move on.
