do you eat only raw food?

I have been watching a documentary about a dutch woman who is eating raw food since 10 years. Her youngest son (now 15 years old) is doing the same. They do not eat meat or fish either. The eldest son went back to his (English) dad in England, he did not like that life style. A doctor said the (youngest) son Tom is unhealty (he did not look that way, the doctor did not look very healthy to me btw) and he should be taller. The mom stated that all the hormons given to the cows etc make us grown (dutch people are one of the tallest in Europe) so no meat, milk. Also it's proved that many people over here have serious health problems, allergies are improving plus we have the highest amount of children with cancer under the age of 14 years old. That doctor contacted AMK (Anomynous childabuse organisation). So mom and son had to come in court, the judge did not find this a reason to take her son away. but since he was not going to school anymore that was an issue to interfere. Childcare said that if the boy would realy stay 6 centimeters (!) shorter as he could have been with "normal" food this would be no reason to take him away from his mother since they have a great relationship. The last part I saw was that the boy was still not visiting a regualar school (3 years later, he did not want to go over there, has home education which is not allowed in my country unless you never been at school and can give a good reason why a regular school is not fitting your child). Als the child had a "supervisor" (some child care organisation) and the mother has to pay a "bill", risk to get into prison. Interesting thing about this whole discussion is that nobody knows how tall one actually can be. That boys do start growing faster at a way later age as girls. That's proved that overweighed is bad for the healt, all the antibiotics, hormons in food etc also is. But how come nothing is done against that? Why all this excitement about an other lifestyl? Nobody is forced to live the same way. I would like to know if there are people over here who only eat raw food. Does it work? Also... you never feel cold? Since personally I would like to drink a hot cup of tea or some hot soup especially if it's winter.

This story is crazy! Wow! Living a rawfood, vegan or vegetarain lifestyle is one of the healthiest ways we can do for our bodies. The majority of raw foodists are vegan though some do eat raw meats and milk; however, with all that being said eating a raw food and vegan lifestyle is very healthy. When we eat raw foods we are eating foods in their natural states. Fruits and vegetables fall into this category. When we cook our foods, we lose all those or 70-80% of those living enzymes. Those enzymes are what help us to fight off diseases. This is why processed foods are so bad for us, not to mention the fact they are loaded with sugar and sodium. People who practice a raw food diet might heat their foods in a dehydrator with the settings below 170 degrees. Jack Lalanne was a juicer and he ate the majority of his foods raw. He was an icon in the health and fitness world until his untimely passing at the age of 98. There is another lady in her 70's. You can find her as well as others practicing the raw food lifestyle. Her name is Mimi Kirk. Also check out the Raw Brahs, three brothers who are very much into the raw food diet.

Do you eat raw yourself? Personally I do believe too that it's the most healthy way. Not just eating the so called bio-food. Fact is people do have more and more allergies and they do come from somewhere. Same in my family. Also the sugar is killing most people (all kind of diseases, we all (worldwide) are more and more overweihted and still don't feel great). I don't know if we will make it to eat completely raw but we are about changing a big part of our diet. Even got my youngest who is not eating fruit at all or vegetables that far she likes a smoothie in the morning (at least some fruit is a start). I am still wondering how to eat only raw foods during winter time or if you feel cold. This mother and son were not heating their food at all, but heard others do indeed. Will surely go search for more info. Thanks for the names/sharing.

Hi I really don't eat raw food not even a raw carrot. and the don't think that the mother and her son can change their habit so easily as they have been eating raw food from many years and its not that easy to leave the habit and i don't think that they are going to leave it.every kind of food have its advantages as well as disadvantages. we have to take the diet in a mix of both and in a calculated way which keeps us healthy and fine .

Haven't been thinking about the fact that it's hard to change a habit. I think this also means for the way they digest the food. Their body is used to this kind of food since years. Might be eating the other way will even make them sick. I doubt if a mix of both will keep you more healthy since nobody knows what is a good mix. I also think that what might be good for one person is not to another. Also it will depend on where you live in this world. Thanks for sharing your opinon.

No I don't eat only raw food but I really wish that I could have a diet that was close to eating a lot of raw foods. It's the best way to get a lot of nutrients and getting the best fulfillment out of the calories that you take in daily. Unfortunately when we cook dishes it can certainly make food taste much, much better than just eating it raw in salads or something. The best ways I've found to get raw vegetables would be juicing, making salads, or smoothies. Otherwise I think we would all really need raw diet recipes because obviously we aren't all that used to all raw food diets. I think that cooked foods can be good for you as well such as spices and herbs which wouldn't always be very appetizing if you were to try and eat it raw.

I wonder how come we are not used to raw food anymore since I do think that we (human being) are not developed/changed that much. I do believe that we should eat raw food (vegetables, fruit, seeds etc). Now a days we eat a lot our body is not using (which means: off to the toilet or getting fat). I never made juice or smoothies out of it btw. Many herbs you can eat just so also (add them to salad or (vegetable) juice for example). I also wonder if you need to cook all your food or can "heath" is on a lower temp (under 40 degrees Celsius). Food cooked too long or "burned" is not good for the health plus there are less vit./minerals in it.

Sushi is with rice also, which is cooked. We eat raw fish as well like hering. But this is not about eating some raw food but eating only raw food and no fish and meat. Which means every day salad, fruit, juices, smoothies or so. Never a hot meal or something to warm you up. Which is important to me (I guess to many others). If you live in a (mostly) cold, windy, country. I do wonder if your taste might change if you do this for years.

I just can't imagine eating raw meats. I know the Japanese eat sushi, and that's raw fish. It gives me shivers.

I can eat raw fish with coconut milk, vinegar and some spices every few months. I know its not so healthy but its tasty, that's why I just ate like once a month or so on. I can't help to be pity of the youngest son, he was been influenced by the mother. I can't believe there are people who's been eating raw foods their whole life. I wonder how much bacteria were they eating. I hope their lifestyle will change. I really wish.

I doubt the lifestyle of the mother will change. Might be of the youngest, he is eating at the home of his gf also. that family has partly the same lifestyle only eat fish also. So the son does eat fish if he is over there, also he said he did eat french frites once in a while. BTW his dad and older brother did not look that healthy either although they live in England and eat everything. The bacteria is an interesting issue.. although I think many people get way more bacteria inside as they know. Many restaurants are far of healty, the poop-bacteria is found everywhere.

Many times I think some of the claims they state sometimes with things such as Foods etc. is many times unfathomed, and in reality unless a child is a certain age and still really skinny or short, how can you judge someone against someone else? It is true boys grow at a slower rate most of the time, and quit growing sometimes not til in their 20s. So to me, they would rather have kids with more Health problems than someone who is Healthy? Interesting.

I've read a lot about raw food diets and actually support them. I've tried to incorporate more raw into my diet and that of my family, but I don't think fully raw is for me. To consume enough calories and nutrients on a fully raw diet you usually have to make use of juicers to make it possible to consume that much fruit and veg. According the the literature I've read, so long as at least 75% of your diet is raw you can call it such. And you can drink hot tea if that's what you like, and warm foods gently using a food dehydrator for instance. It is madness to persecute people for living differently. I think there is plenty of evidence that a raw diet can be nutritionally sound, and that homeschooling is a viable alternative.

I can't believe all that noise was made over their diet. I love raw vegetables. A nice salad with carrots and onions on it and I'm good to go. I tend to go towards local markets when choosing meats over the processed stuff. We are not red meat eaters. I honestly can't remember the last time I cooked a steak for anyone in my household, but we like chicken and turkey. I think it's sad that when a person is health and doesn't have an unhealthy life style they deem that different and in need of question. I still can't believe they called in child services over a diet. That is just unreal to me.

I think that is too much. Eating raw foods will also have its drawbacks. In fact, there could be danger of eating germs if not cooked.

yes but these germs will be there too if you eat a salad or? This family is only eating vegetables and fruit. Nothing else. So even if you eat a cooked meal and add salat to it you can have these germs. Personally I also think it would be too much for me. I can't imagine only to eat salat day and night.

Hi, I am vegetarian. So eating only vegetables and fruits ,I can understand. But eating raw food is something strange. I used to eat raw carrot, tomato, onion, cucumber, beat root, radish etc in the form of salad.
