Yes, the Miss Universe pageant is over but I can't still get over the decision that was made. I really think that Miss Philippines deserved the title not because I am a Filipino but because she has what it takes to be called the "Miss Universe" and she have showcased it. She showed what a real woman should be: Confident, Intelligent, and with class. Of course I respect the opinions and decisions of the judges in the pageant , maybe they have seen something that I did not see in Miss USA. No offense but this is my opinion. Miss Philippines should have won the title.

I guess you're right that the judges saw something we didn't see in deciding to give the crown to Miss USA. Oh, well, it would've been great if our own Miss Philippines did bring home the crown but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Let's hope the next year we'll be able to win it.

Hi Val.It cannot deny that your country is a place that advocates beauty and the Miss Philippine are all high-caliber and well trained. They deserve, but I do believe that aesthetic standard varies from person to person,so it would be not so surprising if someone would disagree with you.
Have a nice day.

hi,
my sister told me that she watched the Miss Universe pageant and she said that the Miss Philippines should be the deserve winner for Miss Universe rank because of her answer, then when i have watched the pageant in television it should be the Philippines because her answer was straight to the point.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Yes i can understood how u must have felt after seeing Miss USA being crowned as Miss Universe but i think we should respect the decision of the judges and i know like u many would have been disappointed with their decision but in every competition their has to be one winner and i am glad that Miss Philippines showed her talent and i am sure she will go places in the future.
What say?

Well dear, it's about time to get over and move on. Just be happy that she won the first runner up slot. After all, there lots of them who did not even make it to the semi-finalist list.
I myself was disappointed because I feel Janine was more deserving. But there are judges whose opinions differ from us and have made a closer screening of the candidates. Her gown made me really clap loudly. It is the most beautiful of all and her answer is the most intelligent reply of all. As I saw her on stage, I'd say...Janine is not the most beautiful of all the candidates but she was a stand-out in terms of grace, sophistication and intelligence. Ms. USA is very beautiful but I did not feel her impact on the stage. But the judges were more in the position to judge so let us just respect their decision and just be happy that Janine made a tremendous performance.

Hi Val! I am also a Filipina like you but I disagree with what you said. Miss USA is the more deserving winner. It was a very fair judgment. If you noticed how Miss USA answered the question, she was very spontaneous and sincere in her answer. Also, between the two, when they let their hair down and remove their make-up, I think beauty-wise Miss USA is more beautiful. Our position as first runner-up was good enough considering the fact that Miss Philippines only got a very easy question to answer and to which I think she did not really elaborate. Cheers!

Many people, not only Filipinos, believed that Ms. Philippines was the winner. I can't tell why the judges chose ms. usa since I didn't really watch the pageant.
Ms. Philippines did explain that even though she gave a good answer in the question and answer portion, ms. usa might have done better in the other parts of the competition: such as swim wear, talent and so on.
Because the question and answer portion was the last event of the pageant, Ms. Philippines had a more lasting impression on the audience because of her answer this is why a lot of people expected her to win.
We Filipinos are full of pride for our national candidates, but we shouldn't be biased and we shouldn't be petty about these things. Even when our candidates deserved to win, it won't change the subjective opinions of the judges.
Besides, 1st runner up is a pretty good place!

"as a global ambassador, do you think speaking English should be a prerequisite to being miss universe"? this is the question miss Janine was asked, if only she had answered in TAGALOG and took an interpreter to translate it to English i believe, there is a greater possibility that she could have been miss universe. that is how i see it. or maybe she could have answered it this way... " no...because in the first place it is not a requirement for any candidate to be able to speak English just to be able to join the pageant". that's a very simple answer. for me sometimes things in its simplest form is the best and the most beautiful.
