What is the use of hashtag on facebook? / myLot

i can see some of my friends on facebook, everytime they post they would put hashtags for it. i know this can work on twitter but what is the purpose of putting and posting such words on facebook? why do people do it? do you this too on facebook and what is your purpose for putting such words?

I've noticed that too and it's really annoying how they co-relate Facebook with Twitter when in fact, hashtags are no use in Facebook..

i think people do hashtags when they post a photo from instagram. instagram and twitter both uses hashtags as their keywords... like here in mylot we do have the tagging of discussions. so when you go to the home page of the instagram or twitter and would like to view the different categories of the photos available or uploaded, those that falls under the category of the hash tagged photo will be shown. I just find these people who bothers to hash tag their photos amazing in their own way. i tried, but im just too lazy to do that. hehe i think its just a waste of time, hahaha =)

I also noticed that some Facebook users use hashtag on their posts, although there is no feature on facebook on putting hashtags unlike the “@” mention signs which is usable on FB’s interface. The Hashtag “#” symbol has been a useful language in the internet world on expressing on some sort on their posts on such social networking sites, so with hashtags on their posts, one can easily noticed that the user is expounding something over his/her posts.
