The name Haman does indeed occur in the Old Testament. He was indeed an archenemy of Israel, but he was many, many years after Moses. He was, in fact, an Amalekite who was chief minister to Xerxes I of Persia, and may well have been related to the Haman in the Egyptian inscriptions, who was probably well after Moses (It was only after the departure of the Israelites from Egypt that Amalekites came to settle in Egypt, in the area left vacant by the Israelites). The Pharaohs of patriarchal times worshipped all sorts of gods (including the Nile) and could not possibly have imagined themselves to be the only god for anyone. The Quranic story must be about a much later Pharaoh.

The Haman mentioned in Esther 3 is definitely a different person than the Haman mentioned in Quran. Here the poster is making the point that the bible does not speak of an associate of Pharaoh who was called Haman. This is mentioned only in Quran and is now proven correct when the Hieroglyphic language used by the ancient Egyptians during the time of Pharaoh was interpreted in the 19th century.

Naseem, I don't think you are saying anything that I haven't said or implied. The Rosetta Stone dates from 196 BC and the Egyptian inscription mentioning Haman could come from then or any time before then. The Quranic story relates to a Pharaoh who thought he could be the sole object of worship and, therefore, must belong to a different era from that of Moses and his Pharaoh, because the Pharaohs around the time of Moses themselves worshipped a number of different gods. Haman cannot therefore have been Moses's contemporary.

Then you need to read the story of Pharaoh and Moses in Quran. One instance that I can tell you is 28:3-42 http://quran.com/28

This makes no sense at all. You state, the name was translated THE MEANING into hieroglyphics and it cannot therefore be in German all the best, urban

It appears that the Hieroglyphic language was first translated into French/German in early 1850s before being translated into English in 1858. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_Stone

I am not surprised at all because the Qur'an is indeed from the Almighty God who is All Knowing.
