looking for a good music player

I've been wanting to buy a good music player. and mind you, Ipod is out of the question since believe it or not it has mediocre sound and I just hate the fact that it can't play my FLAC files. I'm thinking of getting a Cowon Z2, Rocoo or a cheap Hifiman. Just heard the quality of HiFi players and oh it really does put the quality of smartphone music to shame. Any suggestions on good brands?:)
