It is truly sad the unspeakable violence that is done to women, don't you agree?

There are so many acts of violence being done to women that it is heartbreaking. I was just reading some new articles about how women are not protected in particularly the country of India. The article brought out how one woman had acid poured on her face because she refused men's advances. While another woman was gang raped, and beaten on a bus with iron rods for hours. A child that was ten years old recently died from the same actions. People like this deserve punishment. To me the death penalty does not do it. They should be publicly punished and suffer like they caused their victims. I feel so bad for these women and other individuals who have suffered so much pain at the hands of others.

Hello thank you so much for bringing up this discussion and everything you said in the discussion is unfortunately true :( Yes the caste system is very much part of our lives here though its well cloaked in cities. It is quite blatant in the rural areas. But the gang on the bus has ignited a spark and people are out on the streets demanding justice. We are NOT taking this lying down this time. I live in Bangalore and everyday we have candle light marches and protests demanding harsh punishment for those beasts. In Delhi where the incident took place people are protesting with vigor but unfortunately our government wants to treat the protesters like criminals and tear gases them and uses water cannons! And we have idiotic politicians who make stupid statements that is only fueling our anger. But we are not deterred. There are lots of online pages on facebook as well. We hope justice will be done and the punishment is so harsh that others don't indulge in such beastly acts.

I agree with you. Justice needs to be acted on swiftly about these things. They should not take these things lightly and take should a long time to do something about it. It is a good thing that people aren't going to give up on demanding these things from leaders. It's sad that the people have to expose themselves to those types of situation in order to get their voices heard. The government doing those types of these to the protestors is awful! Keep doing what you can to get your voice heard.

That is really harsh, i have never heard of those news before.. i never thought men like those still exist.. They should definitely be punished, too bad the government can't really do morally wrong stuff to them.. so i guess they'd jut get their punishment from God in the afterlife.

Yeah I understand what you mean. There are unfortunately still men like that out there. It is heartbreaking to hear the suffering that so many women go through in these countries. In those countries punishment perhaps is harsher it just takes forever for it to reach the courts, etc.

I have heard how India treats it's women and girls, and it is heartbreaking, but I think that the women in that country can change that if you all fight hard enough. I have heard that India still has a caste system, am I right? If that is the case, then why not persuade people to eliminate that system. Most countries in the world do not have a caste system anymore because it is horribly outdated and it makes no sense in the modern world. Yes, any man who abuses, rapes, or hurts women and children in any way deserves punishment, but you have to fight to make sure that he does get punished. "Bad men triumph, when good men do nothing." If you want change, then the good people have to fight for that change.

I'm not sure if there is still a caste system or not. I do agree with you that people have to continue to fight for there to be changes. There have been a lot of protest lately because of all the recent very violent attacks against women. I hope that soon there will be changes for the many women who live in fear.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes u are absolutely right, it is so disgusting to see violence against woman increasing at such a rapid pace. I mean it is very disappointing the way woman are being treated like puppets in our society. Besides we do not have stringent laws that would check such heinous activities, so it is time that the punishment given to the criminals be made very harsh so that no body would dare to look at a woman at a negative angle. What say?

Yeah I completely agree with you. It is very sadden to me to hear these things that are happening to women in different countries. There needs to be very strict punishments for these things. That is one reason that these things continue to be done-there is no justice system and so most individuals aren't concerned about facing any penalties. I hope that things will start to change for the sake of women and the young girls who are threatened by these attacks as well.

I agree with you. These things are horrible and women have to protect themselves.I can't even begin to imagine how hard it would be to protect yourself from one person let alone a group of men.It is really awful that these women are facing these horrible acts.
