Election time is just a few months away. Those who were planning to run for the election had already submitted their certificate of candidacy with Commission on Election during the last quarter of this year. It might be too early for some to talk about that matter. But to those who are aiming for a position in the government it is just in time.
Going to and from my place of work every day, I could notice different tarpaulins, banners and other materials hanging on the streets, sidewalks and other conspicuous places with the name of the candidates who are aiming for a position on the 2013 election. Television and other public appearances are also common.
How about us? Have we started reviewing the performance of these officials who will be running again on the 213 election? I think we should also give time for this concern as we will be the one who will benefit on this matter in the long run. Let us take advantage of our right.
Your observations, opinions and reactions will be greatly appreciated.
Have a nice day!

I noticed it too. Even the campaign period has not been launched, there are several tarpaulins of the politicians that has already filed their certificate of candidacy. Some big tarpaulins are greetings for the season having the faces of their line up from mayoralty candidate to their list of councilors.
This is already a form of premature campaign. Every corner or every street, there are banners which eventually left there until it was torn after the election.

Yes, the funny thing is that these people who hanged their holiday greetings are those who are in the position at present. Perhaps they should have taken into consideration what the people may think by doing that considering that they are holding office. Others may think that the fund used for these are the money of the people.
Thank you for sharing!

Yeah, in this way, they are promoting their identity to be known as early as now by the citizes. I think voters should be really think carefully before voting.

If you would notice, they are not really campaigning that is why the COMELEC cannot do anything against it. Who can say that saying Merry Christmas is campaigning already?
But LK, not voting only means that you allow these people to reign. Remember, we have many countrymen who have a very little understanding about these things and they can be easily convinced just by showing a simple act of kindness.

Politics in the country, is for family and relatives only. Once people trained and taste the blessings of government fund. They are forget everything they promise to their constituent and never consider the well being of the people.
Buy condo's and new cars is the first thing they can do. If the politicians is male, that official looking for someone who is being her secretary and buy condo's for her.

In some way you are right. They "feel at home" already, he he. They don't want to go down from their positions and give chance to others. That is what politics can do.
Thank you for sharing!

It is the time when one can see the leaders on the streets and meeting everyone to convince them. Some good leaders keep doing the same thing even if they win the elections but some will never show their face after they win, next time they will show it in the next election.
So it is important to identify the good from the bad and elect those who are really good. What is the meaning of 213 election you wrote there?

I know those people who never bother showing their face in the public but always wins. but that's because she always makes the scene in the senate or her speeches during her visits to schools and universities. well, identifying is hard because it's really they are so good hiding their own secrets that are hard to penetrate

You have a different observation there. And I appreciate you for that.
Well, if we are observant enough we would know who are those people who are really dedicated in their job as a public servant. Thank you for sharing!

I see, it's election time again. It's quite noisy and fun during election time during the campaign period. I see others have really nice commercials but we should not be convinced by campaign jingles and famous celebrity endorsers to put anyone in position. Some of these people we elect could be power hungry and self-serving. I would not like them speaking good for themselves. I hope a TV program will feature these candidates with no biased or only the truth about them and let these candidates speak their minds so we know how they view their mission for the Philippines.

Well for whomever wins it will directly affect me and I am an American. My Filipino Fiancee is there and because of some things that happened several years ago, (things that I will not discuss at this time), I know that things will be a little different. You may ask why but all I can really say is that it might make it harder for me to bring her here. We might have to go to another country. It is getting worse for those of us who have the kind of past I have. I wish it were not that way...

I haven't really given it much thought, as of yet. Most of the running candidates have been there forever, so we already know what they've done and have not done. I probably would not vote again this year.

What is the point of exercising something that you are not fully aware of? am not personally going to be one of those who vote simply because it's a right. we need to be informed or research on every details of these candidates before we can make a decision. I've already been disgust for people who practically sells their votes and bluntly admits there's no hope for the country.
we need to know who is evil in this election "before we can vote" it's not about good people doing nothing. it's like the foolish reenforcing the evil that's already in the public service. sometimes not voting for them can be even more productive.

That is one of the reasons why I created this discussion, LK. For us to know more about these candidates and what we can do for the country.

I would still try to convince you to practice you right. The right to vote. As there is a saying that most of the time evil will triumph because good people do nothing.
Thank you for sharing.

It is the time of the years again for everyone to take a deeper look at all the candidates running for the election, so that we can vote wisely in this election, some of us may want to get rid of those old politicians who had held on to the public office for several term already, and thinking about giving those new faces and new idea a chance to lead the country, it is the time to do it. While some of us who are satisfied with the past record of certain candidates may want to give him/her another chance for the sake of the country's future. On and on, we should at least take some time to look closely at their banner and campaign materials to see what are they stand for and then do our civic duty to go to the voting booth when the time arrive, so that we can be an informed voter instead of vote blindly without a clue. That is all we need to do at the very least as citizen of our nation.

Aside from understanding and knowing what is needed to know in order for us to choose the best person for the job, I think we should also take time to inform others.
I appreciate the way you see things. Have a nice day and thank you for sharing.

Yes, this post is actually already relevant these days even if the election is still few months away. And yes, I myself have been preparing for this coming ultimate event of election. I have been starting checking out candidates and their performances- their integrity based on their history. We, as concern, very very concern citizens must really take this matter with great importance as the result of it will greatly affect our lives. We are the ones putting people in the position so let us be fully ready in exercising our right to vote. We have to get ready as early as now. Keep watching out to be able to screen whom should we will put into position.

I have yet to know how many actually are really taking into substance what candidates say and how many people are just going for the popular thing. The trend of voting for popularity never goes away as long as people don't demand something of a framework or a plan form these candidates and a later time, try to account these people to these promises from the president to the local councilor.
It's terribly easy to say some promises that can raise people's hopes, and dreams. it's harder to make to them do it. Many people say that a lot of voters have gone mature but I can still cast a doubt on it because many people still vote with their hearts and not on their heads. Not saying they are stupid but the appeal for emotion is so strong you don't have to think about it. I have yet to see the same maturity extended to our candidates and supposedly-leaders in our society and country.

Hi jeanne!
Yes we have to very vigilant on what is happening around. Besides, committing mistakes one after the other is not good. We must see to it that we choose the right one.

As a good citizen we should vote wisely choose the one who we feel has done or will done a better job for our country.. some people choose their candidate because of popularity but that is totally wrong.. popularity doesn't mean doing a good job.. we should also look in their track record and their past works.. as a responsible voter lets choose who we feel that will make a difference for the better..

Hi neelia.
I like the way you see things. I hope everybody is like you when it comes to selecting their candidate. But sad to say there are really those who have a little understanding about it. That is why these politicians are taking advantage of the ignorance of some.
Thank you for sharing!
