I don't know what is wrong. I have checked everything the control panel ther is no mute on my speakers I have the speakers plugged in where they go. I am to the point is I am ready to change the sound card. But I have scanned the computer with these driver things that cost and it says I need to update the audio driver. What the heck if I could pay I would download their drivers. Does anyone know a site where they will scan my computer and download the audio driver I need free of charge? Thank you for all your help!

You shouldn't have to pay for drivers. Go to a good search engine, type in the name of your speakers, along with any model numbers that you can find and then the word "drivers." I don't know about your computer but I think from about Windows 98 up, your computer will search for the appropriate drivers if you ask it to. I don't remember exactly where that is, but it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Thanks Peavey. How do I find the brand of my speakers? They are speakers that were given to me and no name on them off brand I think. I have tried searching with the search in XP but still no sound. I have looked all over the net trying to find some way for something to search for drivers that need to be updated but they all want money that I don't have. Thanks for your help. Still no sound.

Thanks Peavey. I tried that but it don't see my speakers. I have used these speakers for years and they work on my other computer. Tried two different sets and still don't see them. I figure it is the sound card. Tried updating the sound card but it still isn't working. I will try another set of speakers and then if that don't work I will change out the speakers. Thanks for all your help.

When I bought my desktop, it came with the speakers. And then one day my computer crashed and I had to reinstall everything. The computer manufacturer provided me with a disk containing all the drivers that I need to install to make the display and sound work again.
Perhaps there's a Help Line for your computer manufacturer and you can contact them to resolve your problem. That is what I usually do when I have a problem with my computer. But first, reinstall all the drivers that are needed to make your computer work again.

If this is a driver issue, you can download it on your manufacturer's website using the model code of your computer. If this is not available, you can contact them and ask if you can request to be send it in a USB via post. I am sure they will be able to provide it. Downloading it from a third party website might cause some issue with your computer.

Hi Krisha and welcome to my lot. I don't know the name of the audio driver it is by intel though. It is where the speakers connect to the computer. I have tried to uninstall it and reinstall it but still no sound. I don't have a CD the computer was given to me. I am going to try and get on HP's site and see if they can fix it for me since it is free....LOL Thanks for your help my friend.

You can uninstalling the sound drivers and reinstalling it again. If your looking for drivers for your sound card, it is free from the manufacturer of the sound card, just look for support section and you can download the updated drivers.

hi,
i think you should re-socket all the connections you have between the speaker from your computer, check if you device is still okay,or maybe you need to change your speaker,or maybe you installed the wrong driver for your internal drive.

Maybe you can turn off the computer and then turn on it again, it may help. If it doesn't work, you can insert the sound box or speaker again to have a try. May these ideas will help you.
