So many choices

I remember when I was a kid all I really ate was Campbells condensed soups. I don't even recall there being anything but condensed soups. Now there are so many choices! I just had chicken orzo with lemon. It was so good. I had never had orzo prior to trying this soup. I love the Italian Wedding soup too. It's one of my favorites. Don't get me wrong, I love homeade soup and make some now and again. Sometimes I'll find recipes and think, oh, that would be good added to this one. Once I used chicken with white navy beans and spinach. It was delicious. I still eat chicken noodle soup but seldom the condensed version. What are some of your favorites? Some of the others I like are Lentil, Gumbo, and Chicken enchilada.

Carrot and apple soup? Okay, ya got me. I know we can't post recipes but what other ingredients might one use in such a soup? It sounds interesting. Is it sweet like glazed carrots? You got my attention.

That does sound good. And the ginger added would be beneficial to digestion and if you were feeling under the weather. I'd just never imagined apples and carrots together before. Going to have to try that now. Thank you again.

Oh, I was raised on Campbell's soups... My mother did make stew a few times, but I don't think it would ever occur to her that she could make vegetable noodle or tomato soup from scratch. She would rather just open a can. I make homemade soup for my boyfriend and I. I love to make vegetable soup using whatever beautiful, fresh vegetables I happen to have on hand. Vegetable-rice soup is good as well. I have plans to make a pumpkin soup soon. Although, I haven't quite mapped that out in my head yet as to what I want to put in that. I have a few ideas but nothing definite. When I have an excess of veggies again, I shall have to make some soup for my boyfriend's one cousin. I'd tried before, but our schedules just didn't quite mesh. *Sigh*

Why bother tossing it fresh veggies to canned soup? It's easy to make your own vegetable soup--and a lot healthier. Do you really need HFCS and massive amounts of sodium and sugar in your diet? That is all that canned soups such as that have to offer people.

I know when I was growing up the only canned soup in the pantry was Campbell's condensed soups. We usually had tomato, chicken noodle, chicken and stars, and cream of mushroom. Any other soups we had homemade. I don't normally buy canned soup other than the condensed ones. Other kinds of soup I make from scratch or a powdered mix. My favorite soup is French Onion and I make that once in awhile. My kids love Broccoli Cheese soup, so I make that quite a bit.

I still used the condensed soup in some of my casseroles. Or to thicken my chicken and potatoe soup. I used cream of potato in my home made chowder instead of regular cream to keep some of the calories down.

After reading this you are right I normally just ate Campbell's as a kid. Now you go and there are so many companies, and flavours. growing up we only had chicken noodle, vegetable, and tomato. I really like sweet potato soup, or minestrone. I tend not to buy canned soups, I normally make homemade in the crock pot now. I do have some canned soup just in case in the cupboard.

Oh yes, Minestrone, one of the healthiest soups there is. And delicious. I prefer homemade. But my husband doesn't eat soup. For work, it's more convenient to take prepared. I usually get one of the healthy requests or low sodium versions. I need a larger freezer. Mine is full of soup, chili, and spaghetti starter from tomatoes out of my garden. I need some other veges to add and I'd be set. Once things settle, meaning we get my father in law well and out of the hospital I'll have more time to prepare some homemade dishes.
