Last night while attending the Eucharistic Celebration here in our place, I noticed an old couple, really it amazed me to the nth because I never had the opportunity before. The man was obviously the eldest between them he can barely stand up and walk the few steps to the central isle to receive the Eucharistic Bread. I was somewhat touched by the gesture of the old lady patiently standing beside him holding on to him and by the look of it, twas kind of tasking for her and physically exhausting. So it came to my mind if by chance, would I be spending the rest of my life with my not so romantic husband, could we last until we're old enough?
How about you guys out there, do you see yourself growing old with your partner?

I definitely see myself growing old with the man I am with. We love each other, we always support each other, we grow our child together and we respect each other, no matter the ordeals destiny serves us all the time. Sometimes we are being tested so much and so often that I come to think that some higher power wants to separate us but we will not let that happen. In the latest years, when love has turned into a habit, respect and memories can make a couple want to live forever together and even start a new flame between them. Why not...

I like how you put it that way and I admire people who can get through almost everything in a marital crisis. Been through some rough times also and this is the very first time I paused and think ahead for the coming years. I hope we all get to experience this longing to have to grow old and very much in love with our partners.

It's always touching to watch older couple stay and help each other still even in their old age. But "So it came to my mind if by chance, would I be spending the rest of my life with my not so romantic husband, could we last until we're old enough?" make me laugh.
I love my husband, I actually prayed that may the Lord take me first with Him when time comes rather than getting my hubby first. I don't know if I'll make it long without him. I can definitely handle myself without him but not the thought that he's not there forever.
Well.. my husband is not romantic as well, in fact he's more of a practical person, I don't know where he was when the Lord showered some romanticism (don't know if this is the right term) to men, co's just don't get anything. hahahaha.

lol i hope you're not laughing at me! I'm somewhat taken aback with my train of thoughts last night seeing that old couple. I really never entertain such notions way back.

my husband and I have been married for 3 years but together for about 8 years off and on. me and him have been through very rough times together but some how we managed to pull through and work it out so yes I do see me and him together forever and until we are old just like that.

Did your being together before your marriage somewhat helped you with your decision to tie the knot? I've been married for 11 years in a civil ceremony but my husband is asking me to marry in church but I'm having doubts.

We cannot tell what will happen but of course hoping that we will also be together until we grow old.
There are times I can also see such couples who are still sweet even they are already old and my husband would tell me. Someday we will be like that also.
Happy New year!

That's really nice and sweet knowing your husband is looking forward to spending your days together until the end. Good for you, you deserve that.

Yes, I see myself growing old with my boy friend. We are also talking about stuffs like what are we going to do if we are old already. I am also touched whenever I see an old couple. I really admire their patience and love to each other after a long time.

it all depends on the age factor and more importantly on how we perceive and take up the life in a easy way

I guess like most of us (who are already married or in a relationship), we would want to spend "forever" with the person we committed ourselves with. And like you, I also get inspired and happy and all warm inside whenever I see old couple who are still so sweet to one another and whose relationship survived all through the years. What they have is something that is not easy to achieve nowadays, and we can only hope and pray that we are doing enough to achieve one for ourselves.

You are right that is why I'm asking here if some really have thought about it, a life long relationship is really very hard to maintain, like you said nowadays it's different because everybody exercise free will and most get away with what they want.
